Disadvantages: High fat content, unhealthy

I was in my local Sainsbury's when I wanted a cheap snack to have in my bag for a 2 hour journey and I saw the Basics range so I thought I would give it a go. At 27p for a 100g bar, I thought I was getting a bargain. And I pretty much was getting a bargain. I am no massive lover of chocolate but it is a good pick-me-up for a long day.
The packaging didn't exactly jump out at me, a stark white wrapper with the Sainsbury's orange writing, but it is the typical plain, cuts-down-on-cost type of packing that is in most shops nowadays.
You can clearly see the pie chart of nutritional information on the front as well as having a slightly more detailed version on the back, which has the different coloured bars to indicate how high these levels are.
The nutritional information is given per quarter bar, which, when scanning the information can seem a little misleading unless you make sure you read it all properly.
Nutritional Information:
Calories - 126
Fat - 6.5g
Saturated fat - 4.1g
No salt
Sugars - 15.3g

Don't forget this information is per quarter of a bar so they are quite high.
The back of the packaging gives us the best before date, which is a year away, the ingredients and allergy advice also.
This product contains milk and Soya and is also not suitable for nut or wheat gluten allergy sufferers. On the positive side it is suitable for vegetarians.

I ate a few pieces of the product while travelling and found it overly sweet, even for me who has a huge sweet tooth. When I got home I tried a bit dipped in marshmallow and it actually dulled down the sweet taste it leaves in your mouth after eating.
It does have a nice crunch when you bite into it but then that disappears and you are left with just chocolate, there is no real texture to it, no creaminess but the taste is pleasing.
Due to the high calorie content and fat etc I wouldn't recommend eating this product more than about a square a day.
It was cheap so I wasn't expecting some kind of miracle chocolate but this is something I would buy just to keep in the cupboard so I could get a square or two of it at a time for a quick chocolate fix when needed.
I definitely wouldn't let this product be consumed by children, even as a treat, it is just way too fattening and damaging to health.

Summary: Not too bad to have in the cupboard but not a great product
