Browsing through the shelves in Sainsbury's I really had a fancy on for something sweet pudding wise. I was thinking along the lines of some kind of sticky toffee pudding and custard and terribly high in fat, unhealthy sort of things when I started to think back to when my Mother used to make horrible homemade rice pudding, suitable for diabetics as my Dad was one. However it made me think fondly of tinned rice pudding and I thought I'll get some of that it has to be more healthy than me eating a huge sticky toffee pudding all to myself in one sitting! There were plenty of brands to choose from but still on my mission of trying out economy brands I opted for ... Read the complete review

I like rice pudding but it take so long to cook that I'm not organised enough to do it from scratch which is why I buy them in tins. I usually get a few when I do an online Asda shop but for some reason I forgot so picked some up down Sainsburys. For some reason there is something so comforting about rice pudding and it's definately one for those cold winter nights when you canhear the rain banging at the window and the wind howling through the locks. This rice pudding comes in a 425g tin and costs just over 30p which I think is very reasonable considering it will serve three people. It's very easy to heat up if you like it that way although I ... Background: Ever since I was a child I have enjoyed the taste of Rice Pudding. In those early days of my life my mother used to make it for us, it was a treat and we used to argue about who would have the skin on top. These days there is a far easier way to enjoy rice Pudding as it comes very conveniently in tins that require little effort and time to produce a satisfying pudding for all the family to enjoy. Price: When Rice Pudding was first made in tins, it was the branded companies that started this trend, they produced a good quality product that was quick and easy to enjoy, hense its popularity. The Supermarkets were soon ... Read the complete review

I have always wanted to make my own rice pudding, I absolutely adore the stuff, but as I'm so lazy I just purchase tins instead. I've always stuck to Heinz, for no particular reason and have always enjoyed this brand. But I am constantly looking for ways to save money so when I seen a tin of rice pudding in the Sainsburys Basics brand for just 13p I had to try one out. So upon opening the tin (the same I would a Heinz tin), Yes it was a little runnier than the usual brand I used, but really I expected this. It was more the taste I was concerned about though. The taste was a delight! It tasted creamy and sweet and hell of alot better than what I had ... Read the complete review

I hate taking my husband food shopping with me as the bill is always more when he is with me as he keeps popping things into the basket that, in my opinion, we don't really need. However, this week the boy did good by getting me to try some of Sainsbury's basics range, including the tinned rice pudding. I usually buy the standard Sainsbury's rice pudding which is great and was a bit dubious about the quality of the 18p basics range. However, I did remember having read a review on Dooyoo a few weeks ago saying how good it was so decided to let him put it in the basket. We tried it that night and I have to admit to being very impressed. The consistency was ... Read the complete review
