... these are unbelievably cheap. They cost a mere 27p for a 200g bag. Think what you pay for a tiny bag in most shops and this puts the value into perspective. The packaging lacks glamour and is in line with the range - a white pack with the Sainsbury's logo and red stripes. The product itself though is of a good quality. The first thing you will notice is that the reason they are so cheap is that the nuts contained within are essentially those rejected for premium products for being too small. And they are very small i...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's 'Basics' Salted Peanuts: IM NUTS ABOUT THESE .........NUTS (305 words)

SAINSBURY'S BASICS PEANUTS. Well thats just what they are basic peanuts, cheap and basic but this doesnt in any way in my opinion reflect from the fact that the peanuts are basically quite good. The Package ********** The Packet is the basic white bag with writting on it in red Roasted Salted Peanuts, a bit smaller but still nutty. They come in a 200 gram bag and to be honest they were good value for their money. I think that the peanuts tasted just as good as any other packet ive tried, but only cost me 28p which is an absolute bargain for a 200 gram bag, especially if you consider how many you get for your money and the fact that ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury Basic Roasted Salted Peanuts taste good but are ba ... (263 words)

These are good value at 30p for 200gm. OK they are smaller than nuts in other packets but the flavour is good. We eat loads of nuts as we are a vegetarian household, and nuts are an essential foodstuff here. We have hazlenuts, walnuts, almonds, and brazil nuts in the cupboard - but these are quite expensive. I tend to use them in recipes, so for just snacking I have two or three packets of Sainsbury's basics peanuts on standby. Much better than reaching for crisps. The peanuts are very salty, which is regarded as naughty these days, but which I would challenge. If the body craves salt then give it salt! Salt content 100gm Basics ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's 'Basics' Salted Peanuts: The smallest nuts I've ever put in my mouth (257 words)

I would think peanuts would be one of those things where you don't need to go for a brand name. At 30p for 200grams, these Sainsburys own were too good to miss, and I dived right in with this pack. OK, first impressions: they're small. It's odd, but these are probably the smallest peanuts I've seen. I don't suppose this is really a problem, but it goes some way to explaining how they got into the budget range - bigger ones probably go to the boys at KP etc. Anyway, they're also quite pale looking, but I don't think that's a problem either. When you look at them closely, you can see the salt covering each one, and for me that's a good sign as it ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review These taste SO GOOD (749 words)

Oh dear god these are so so so so so so good. Yes. Indeed. Anyway. I like nuts. I usually eat almonds, but they're so expensive, you know, like £6 a kilo at the cheapest. And I was thinking, oh, why, why, why. And peanuts are cheap. So I looked at peanuts, and I saw Sainsbury Basics Peanuts. As I love Sainsbury Basics I decided to buy them, and I did. These are very good. The end. No. I must tell you more. I was a bit off about these due to the fact that they are salted and not dry roasted - they contain sunflower and palm oil. But the salt is so low compared to everyone else's peanuts that, really, who cares? I only eat 25g at a time and the salt in that ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's 'Basics' Salted Peanuts: If you like small nuts then you'll love these! (446 words)

If you don't know by now the I am not ashamed to say that I am addicted to peanuts. This was a huge problem for me when I was pregnant because I eat nuts almost everyday (Oh stop it!!!!). Living without them through two pregnancies was extremely hard and I just hope my children appreciate the sacrifice I made. Anyway I love them especially if they are covered in chocolate. If I'm in a savoury mood then I will often buy salted peanuts but hate paying over the odds for them. Recently I scanned the shelves at Sainsburys and was delighted to find this 200g packet of nuts for just 30p. The bag is very easy to open and no scissors need to be involved in the ...  Read the complete review
