Advantages: Cheap and are nuts!
Disadvantages: Don't taste quality (but they are nicely seasoned)
When it comes to snacking I really am a pro! I adore crisps and anything remotely unhealthy but occasionally (not often though lol) I do get bored of the usual offerings in my local stores and decide to hunt for something bit different...which is where these came in cos the other day whilst I was mooching around Sainsbury's, I'd looked around the crisp department and nothing jumped out at me and grabbed my attention so I grabbed a couple of bags of these and threw them in my basket as I hadn't seen them before!
The Packaging....
200g white and orange, long oblongish bag and in orange, white and black writing on the front I'm told they're Sainsbury's Salted Peanuts 'A bit smaller, still nutty' and there is a scribbled on drawing of nuts (in orange). There is an at a glance nutritional pye chart to the top right hand corner of the packet and on the bottom right hand corner the best before date is stamped on (in black ink) and I'm told they are suitable for Vegetarians & Vegans. On the back of the packet I'm given a full nutritional rundown chart, ingredients and allergy advice are listed, I'm told how to store them, given contact details for Sainsbury's, size is stated (as I've told you already) and finally there is a bar-code on there. Make no mistake, this is economy packaging so if you want to purchase these you will know instantly that these are they!
The Nuts....
Very small in size (smaller than average nuts), glossy looking with no skins and a slightly oily look and you can't see the salt that's added to these and they are a nice, even golden colour all over.
I noticed that in both of my bags there were no whole nuts as such and they were all halved, had no real smell to them and the bags were full almost to the brim, so economy and value they really are.
Flavour wise...yes they taste of peanuts. Ready salted? Yes but kind of from within the nut and not visible or tasting on the outer of the nut. They are small but crunchy enough but do have a cheap and chewy taste to them and are a tad bland on the peanut side of the taste but they aren't to greasy and therefore not messy to eat and overall not a bad economy buy! Peanuts they are but a little bland though nicely salted they are. If you like peanuts at 30p a bag they are definitely worth a go!
