Advantages: The price
Disadvantages: Smaller than average.
If you don't know by now the I am not ashamed to say that I am addicted to peanuts. This was a huge problem for me when I was pregnant because I eat nuts almost everyday (Oh stop it!!!!). Living without them through two pregnancies was extremely hard and I just hope my children appreciate the sacrifice I made. Anyway I love them especially if they are covered in chocolate. If I'm in a savoury mood then I will often buy salted peanuts but hate paying over the odds for them. Recently I scanned the shelves at Sainsburys and was delighted to find this 200g packet of nuts for just 30p.
The bag is very easy to open and no scissors need to be involved in the process. I find that just tearing the top is enough to take off a corner and then you can just pour and eat, pour and eat....
The one thing that is noticable when you first see these nuts is the fact that they are a lot smaller than any other peanut that I've tried. They really are tiny; around half the size of a peanut M&M. This isn't a problem for me as I tend to put loads into the palm of my hand and shove them into my mouth. If you are one of those people that like to eat them one by one then this could be an issue for you.
The nuts are quite pale in colour and you can see the salt dotted around them. They also have a bit of a sheen to them and feel a bit greasy on the hand. They smell very nutty (obviously!) and make my mouth water.
As far as the taste go they are pretty good. I don't think they are as good as the more expensive nuts but for 30p I can't complain. They are crunchy and nutty and I find that they aren't too salty. Some nuts just leave me parched and I can't seem to get on top of my dehydration after eating them but I can safely say that these are fairly good when it comes to that.
I found that once I started eating these nuts, I just couldn't stop which is pretty bad considering that they contain 26g of fat and 320 calories in every quarter of the bag!
I wouldn't recommend these if you are on a diet but they are great for snacking on and if you are having a party of want some nibbles then I would suggest that you pick up a bag of these.
Summary: A small but nice nut.

- 08/04/09 I'm not keen on nuts, and especially not greasy ones! Great review though, and nice to read about your experience with nuts.... lol... |
