I have always been a big fan of Doritos but just recently due to budgetary issues i've been trying Tesco Value Tortilla Chips, these have proved nice if salty, so I decided to try the Sainsburys value alternative to see if these were any better. So for 25p I get a 100g bag of tortilla chips, they are salted chips and nothing more, the chips come in a plain bag with a white and orange value label, they don't look anything special and being entirely honest when eaten on their own they don't taste very special either, but then what are tortilla chips for, they are a dipping food so the flavour comes more from the dip than the chip. I've found these to ... Read the complete review

It's fairly obvious that my girlfriend has been away this weekend - the flat is littered with wine and beer bottles and several empty bags that used to contain Sainsbury's Basics tortilla chips! All in all, I must declare myself very pleased with this budgetlicious product. It's not as if anyone would complain that much about a snack that they didn't like when they only spent 17p on them right? Sadly this doesn't seem to be the case with the last review and I'd like to throw my hat into the ring and disagree with i_am_joy's claims that they were bland! The packaging is particularly ugly for these and those of us who have grown up with the wonderful ... Read the complete review

Another cheap exploit of this famous phrase in the title. Secure your seat belts, please. Here it comes. Another annoying story abusing c word. To make it more annoying you can imagine someone reading it to you in Robert Peston voice and using Gordon Brown's laugh to chuckle at funny bits. Well, lets crunch our way through the bag of Sainsbury's Basics Tortilla chips. The package is a simple plastic bag with the known orange logo for Basics range. It is easy to open, even easier to empty (to the bowl or directly to the mouth). The bag is see through which I always like as it means 'you can see what is inside and if you don't like me, please don't take me'. ... Read the complete review

I love Mexican food, especially chilli nachos. Sour cream, guacamole and salsa on top of chilli and a gorgeous hot pile of nachos chips with melted cheese. However, I always have a problem. I love the flavour of all those ingredients, so I just don't need tortilla chips to have a flavouring too. It's all very well having flavoured tortilla chips but they are just no good for my top dish. When I go into the shops I struggle to find the tortilla chips I wanted as they are all flavoured with something. However, down there on the bottom shelf I once spied these Sainsburys basic tortilla chips. They were around 20p (the price goes up and down around 17-25p per ... Read the complete review

Anyone who regularly reads my reviews will know by now that I regularly am a secret snacker! My favourite snacks tending to be crisp bound these stood out and as they were a large bag at18p and looked like a similar idea to Dorito's I had to try them. In the past I had tried Tesco's value Tortilla chips that at the same price and I adore them on their own or for dipping so I hoped they were be just as nice! The Packaging.... 100gm see-through plastic bag. On the front of the the bag I'm told they are Sainsbury's 'Basics' Tortilla Chips (simply salted, bags of crunch). Also there is an at a glance nutritional chart, told they are now with 355 less ... Read the complete review
