Whilst I was in Sainsbury's today it was nearing lunchtime and I decided that wanted something hot for lunch. I'm not really sure why I picked this up because I'm not keen on the batchelor cup of soups and this was sure to be worse than them. I think it was the price that swayed me costing just 17p for four sachets. The soup is very easy to put together in that you add 200ml of water to the contents of the packet. It suggests that you don't use boiling hot water but who the hell is that prepared? On popping the contents of the sachet into a cup I was met with a beige powder and some small bits of carrot, peas and onions. It looked pretty ... Read the complete review

Sainsbury's Basics Vegetable Soup in a mug While shopping in my local supermarket, which is nearby to where I've just moved, Sainsbury's have a great range of products that are known as Sainsbury's basics. Basically these are a cheap range of everyday items that we use but because they come in a basic wrapping this is reflected in the price that the item is offered for. This usually saves you quite a bit of money on the Basics products. Sainsbury's basics usually come in white packaging with an orangey red band around so that you can quite easily find them on the shelves. I absolutely love cup a soups! I like easy to make up soupy drinks that I feel are a quick snack for me after the gym and for when I can't be bothered to faff about! I saw these in my local Sainsbury's stores and put down my usual preffered option to give these a go as at the price they cost I was curious but to be honest but didn't hold out much hope for them in the taste stakes, however like I say I was curious! The Packaging.... White box and on the front in white and orange writing I'm told they are Sainsbury's 'Basics' Vegetable Soup In A Mug, there is a scribble of a mug on there, and at a glance nutritional chart is displayed and I'm told to ... I love a bargain and I'll try anything if I think it's cheap, especially if it's a cheaper version of something I usually buy. This 'Vegetable Soup In A Mug' is basically a 'basics' version of a cup a soup. Within the cardboard box there are 4 individual sachets with each one weighing 18g approximate. The packaging and the sachets are really quite basic to look at as you would expect for something that costs just 17p. Each sachet contains vegetable powders (Pea, onion, carrot), dried vegetables (Carrots, peas) amongst other things and they are very simple to make. To make up a soup in a mug simply open your sachet, pour the contents in to a mug and ... Read the complete review
