I recently tried the Thorntons version of millionaire cakes and kicked myself as I worked my way through them, that I had told Andrew that he could have half with me. They were absolutely stunning and I would have eaten two or three packets all by myself. I saw these in the bakery department and thought I'd see if they could live up to Thorntons. I first spotted these Sainsbury's Caramel Shortcake Bites online in their own Bakery section when searching for treats for young cousins who were coming to visit. It immediately transported me back to my own childhood when Mum used to bake similar delights for me and, indeed, they were favourites with my own children when they were young and I used to bake.
