Advantages: A cheesy snack, perfect for parties or dips
Disadvantages: Moreish
125g of Sainsbury`s Cheese Twists equals two half an hour episodes of Eastenders, by the time Dot Cotton has had one of her deep and meaningful conversations with Her hapless son Nick I have manged to crunch my way through half of the box. Watching Peggy Mitchell rant and rave in the Queen Vic sees the other half of the box off!...The box is only small really.
Why is it that all of the best things in life are so moreish?
Instead of loving all of the superfoods that are packed with vitamins and minerals I always seem to pick the most calorie laden junk food that has ever made an appearance on a supermarket shelf!
Have any of you ever tried Lidl`s Cheesy Hearts?
They are amazing, rather like the Roka cheese biscuits and another big favourite of mine are Cheeselets and what about those Cheese footballs, the ones that are filled with soft creamy cheese!! Ohhhhh
Well 98p worth of Sainsbury`s Cheese twists keep me quiet for a while anyway. Classically packaged in a gold and white box with a pot of Cheese Twists arranged in a pot ready to share pictured on the front of the box. ( Sorry I don`t do sharing )
Open the cardboard box and the Perfect Cheese Twists lay in a plastic tray covered with a film. I am almost ashamed to say that neither the tray or the film are recyclable...very unusual.
The box flap opens easily, in fact too easily.
Each Cheese Twist is around seven inches long and is corkscrew shaped. I rather like sesame seeds on my cheesy biscuits but these are plain. The butter puff pastry is cooked to perfection and the sweet nutty aroma of Gruyere cheese pervades your nostrils.
Gruyere Cheese is a Swiss cheese, a hard unpasteurised cheese that has been made using cows milk. As well as having a nutty, sweet flavour you detect a hint of `fruitiness` there, a perfect accompaniment for a glass of Chardonnay...Say no more a glass of white wine works well with Cheese Twists!
The butter pastry is featherlight, as flaky as a Butter Puff and you can detect the rich butter flavour easily.
Alternate a sip of Chardonnay with a bite of Sainsbury`s Cheese Twist and Peggy Mitchell suddenly seems quite a likable character!
The credits roll , the glass is empty and the box lays redundant on the coffee table. I have pigged over 500 calories within an hour!
The Sainsbury`s Cheese Twists contain gluten, wheat, milk and barley. Nut allergy sufferers should bypass these too.
A 100g has nigh on 500 calories,12.9g of Protein, 51.1g Carbohydrates!, 2.3g fibre and 1.75g salt.
Perfect for a party snack, brilliant for using with dips.
But Dawn French constantly tell you that her chocolate orange isn't `Terry's` it is hers, these Cheese Twists are mine all mine.
Apologies to those of you who don't follow Eastenders!
Summary: A perfect little cheesy snack to share or not to share

- 23/01/09 My problem with these is that I have no problem with scoffing the whole packet in no time, and wanting more afterwards lol. Nominated! |

- 23/01/09 These are quite addictive - although, trust me, once you've tried my Nan's home made ones, you'd never bother with these again! |

- 22/01/09 I could eat these all day every day! |
