Advantages: Easy to use and can be added to so many dishes
Disadvantages: It must be eaten within a couple of days
This product should be a standard cupboard stock item. It is only 46p and is a perfect addition to many sauces.
It is tomatoes - creamed- like a passata- pure and simple and delicious. Do not waste your money on tomato sauces for rice or pasta etc; as by adding your own herbs and/or spices to this tomato product you will end up with a delightful and fresh tasting sauce. It is also a great addition to a shepherds pie, chilli, moussaka, lasagna, the list goes on. It really does add a rich tomato flavour, and as an added bonus there is no skin and no seeds included.
It doesn't have to be used as the main constituent to a dish, but can just add an additional flavour say to a curry sauce.
In the small, easily opened carton, you get 500ml, that is superb value and I manage to get a least three tomato based sauces out of each packet.
The most important selling point for me is that it tastes so fresh, and so I often just serve it with pasta and leaves of fresh basil, accompany that simple meal with a fresh side salad and if I shut my eyes I am sitting in the Mediterranean sunshine.
When I see the prices of tomato pasta sauces I wonder who on earth would pay that much when this is so much better- as all you need to do is add your own choice of flavouring.
In this credit crunch time- can you afford not to give this a try.
Summary: An essential cupbord item

- 08/11/09 Sounds lovely, and a good alternative to tinned herbie tomatoes as a basis for pasta etc sauces. |
