 ... this is to remind the consumer that these crisps are actually derived from potatoes, because there is no way you would guess from the flavour! The also have a strange and unpleasant texture. They are not so much crispy as brittle, and each pack tends to contain 24 grams of broken fragments, rather than whole crisps. I found the Salt and Vinegar variety quite overpowering. Sainsbury's Potato Crisps (30% less fat) Before I start this review I would just like to say that I am by no means a brand snob. Often I find that the supermarket 'own brands' taste as good as (and sometimes better than) the branded products. This is not one of those occasions. In my opinion these are amongst the worst crisps I have tried, EVER! I have tried both the Ready Salted and Salt and Vinegar varieties and both are woefully sub-par! Sainsbury's Crisps - Salt & Vinegar I had a few friends round recently and whilst I was in getting some drinks I decided to pick up some snacks. One of the items that found its way into my basket was the Sainsbury Potato crisp. I have had Sainsbury's own brand products before and have generally been very impressed by them. I was also impressed by the price of these. Two 6 packs of 25g crisps bags is currently on offer for £1.60. This works out at around 13 pence a bag.
