Advantages: Reasonably priced, tasty, high in fibre, full of nutritious grains, freshly baked in-store

Disadvantages: None so long as you're careful not to squash it

With the price of bread increasing in leaps and bounds, I think it is important to know that what we are buying is nutritious, tasty and good value for money.

In a larger Sainsbury's store, you can smell that delicious bakery aroma as soon as you walk through the doors, even if the bakery is way over the other side of the shop. Sainsbury's provides a wide variation of on-the-premises freshly baked pastries, cakes, rolls, savoury pastry snacks, and of course their delicious fresh-baked bread range.

The Harvest Grain Loaf is very dense and substantial, yet it still manages to retain a fluffy lightness which is very pleasing and digestible. There is a large selection of different grains in each loaf, and the mixture provides a very pleasant, nutty, almost rustic flavour.

Packed with the goodness of multi-grains, this bread tastes delicious with a good quality slightly-salted butter, and strong cheese of your choice (I prefer a powerful Cheddar, or Swiss Emmanthal). It slices well, and thus is excellent for sandwiches, especially thick, "doorstop" ones. The flavour-burst of the multi-grains blends well with all cold meats, seafood, eggs, salad, different cheeses, and is heavenly with a good quality fruit jam, honey, or lemon curd.

The bread also toasts very well, especially when it's a couple of days old. The toast comes up crispy and light, and is superb thickly spread with butter and marmalade, or covered with tinned spaghetti, baked beans, or melted cheese, and is ideal for a traditional ploughman's lunch with lots of pickles.

The only thing I would warn is, that if the loaf is still warm when you place it into your shopping trolley, make sure it's on top of everything else, otherwise if it has even something light resting on or against it, the whole shape will go all squishy.

The only complaint I'd have about the loaf, is that it's so very nice, you could be in danger of eating almost the whole thing just by yourself.

Enjoy!!!

Summary: Delicious, filling, makes great sandwiches, great toast, or just as it is with butter.
