Shame they cave in cos they taste great!

I do love mince pies but will only eat shop bought one's since my Mother's have put me off home made for life lol. At this time of year mince pies are seriously popping up everywhere and me, well I'm in seventh heaven! The Packaging: Bright red oblong box that has a pattern of a dark red bow around it. On the front of the box there is a photograph of the mince pies on the front and I'm told they are Sainsbury's 6 Iced Top mince Pies, I'm told they are Vegetarian and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. On the back of the box other information includes being told what they are, ingredients and allergy advice is given, I'm told how to store them, there is a full nutritional rundown given and contact details for Sainsburys are listed. Inside of the box there is light plastic red coloured tray in which the mince pies sit in individual silver foil cases. The Pies: Small, round and rather deep looking. The pastry case is a light golden shortcrust pastry, they are generously filled with a dark brown, fruity mincemeat and then the lid is white fondant icing held on by a light pastry rim. They look really nice! Taste wise, well they taste nice enough really. The pastry is buttery, the mincemeat is packet with sticky raisins, apple, mixed peel, sultanas and a few spices and is like I said sticky and chunky, slightly crunchy and soggy in places and is sweet in a natural way. The icing is again very sweet but complements the pasty and the fruity mincemeat really and taste wise they melted in the mouth, tasted sweet and were yummy. However...bite into one and prepared to get splatted by a mince pie. They cave in badly and I can only conclude that these are so moist they're just not robust enough for handling. Sadly to give to a guest these are messy but if you can put a bib on in private they're worth a try at 89p a box! Me I ate the six all in one sitting! Allergy Advice: Contains: Milk, egg, wheat gluten & sulphites. Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers due to the methods used in the manufacture of this product. Nutritional Information Per Pie: Calories: 214 Fat: 7.1g Saturated Fat: 3.6 Salt: Trace Total Sugars: 25.6g These are only available in Sainsbury's stores.
