... label is a wrap around paper one and has a picture of the Macaroni looking all shiney and Yellow. The Nutritional and ingredient information is on the back and the Sainsbury's branding is quite large on the front. Nothing too exciting. When you open this you get a nice whiff of Cheese. It doesn't smell that Cheddary, and perhaps it smells a bit artificial, but it doesn't smell any worse than the other tinned ones out there. The Sauce looks quite thick, and you can see some of the Macaroni bits poking out the Sauce. ...more

Premium Review Sainsbury's Macaroni Cheese: Tinned Macaroni, you simply couldn't fool people you made it ... (1089 words)

I have been deliberately taste testing macaroni cheese's out with reviews in mind lately cos I'm convinced there has to be a decent offering somewhere on the planet and all I ever come across is bland and/or gloopy sad looking pasta with some kind of cheese sauce thrown over the top and it's always too wet or far too dry and there seems to be no in between! Now frozen macaroni cheese meals just aren't good. Tins are hit and miss usually and the only way so far I've found of eating this is making it myself and it's easy but I'm lazy! I want something really that I can just heat up and scoff! I'm not a chef and I have a life to live and as I'm only cooking for ...  Read the complete review

Sainsburys Macaroni Cheese is a great easy dinner for just 61p a can. I've been eating this quite regularly for a while now as I'm a bit lazy when it comes to cooking in the other half's absence. It's a really great convenience meal particularly because of how quickly you can heat it up. You just open the tin, pour it into a microwave suitable dish or bowl and pop it in on medium heat for around four minutes (depending on your microwave). You can just use half a tin if you want to which I like doing with a bit of salad or slice of bread and butter and the rest keeps in the fridge for forty eight hours after opening. It seemed to me one day that this ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Macaroni Cheese: Putting it in a tin is a sin! (406 words)

Every now and again I have this overwhelming urge for macaroni cheese. It funny because I have this urge, eat the cheese then realise that it's not that nice and then I don't have it again for ages. After going around in circles with the Asda Smartprice one, I decided to try this Sainsbury's one which cost 54p for a 420g tin. When you open the tin you will see what looks like a paler version of custard with lumps here and there. When you attempt to get the food out of the tin then you may find that this is a bit of a task. It tends to stick in the tin and not want to come out. I found I needed a spoon to pick it all out. It's quite thick and lumpy. When you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Macaroni Cheese for people too lazy to cook their own! (364 words)

My granddaughter loves tinned Macaroni Cheese, last week there were none of her favourite Heinz so I picked up a tin of Sainsbury's own brand Macaroni Cheese. The 410g tin only cost 53p, which is a saving of almost 20p compared to the Heinz variety so if this is good enough for my granddaughter then this will be quite a saving for her mum and me. I heated the Macaroni Cheese in a small saucepan for a few minutes and tipped it all into a dish for my granddaughter to sample. I had a little bit also with a slice of toast and was fairly impressed with this one, compared to other tinned versions of course and not real Macaroni Cheese! The sauce is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sainsbury's Macaroni Cheese: Pasta Macaroni Over Please (357 words)

Some canned cheese sauces taste good and there are many that leave a lot to be desired, much like the packet cheese sauces some of them taste so artificial. I suppose what happens is that they are flavoured using cheese powder rather than having real cheese in them. Macaroni cheese is a good supper dish and lets face it there are times when all of us look for something quick and easy, no mountain of pots to wash at the end of the meal. A 410g tin of Sainsbury`s macaroni cheese is 54p, that is a very competitive price. We generally just share the one tin between us and have an extra slice of toast if we feel it wasn't enough.
