Sainsbury's Minced Steak and Onion Pie, (Shortcrust Pastry)...
The Package **********
This pie comes in a red and brown coloured box, and the picture on the front of this package looks really yummy. This is just Sainsbury's own brand and not the basics range, i do splash out a little now and again lol.
Having been a great fan of these type of pies, since i was a little girl and my mum was always in the kitchen baking away and would make a batch of these pies for us five children, but no i'm all for the easier and cheaper route to a great tasty mince steak and onion pie these days i,m afraid, so opted to try this one as it is already cooked.
Inside the package sits this lovely looking pie, in a foil container which is great to pop into the oven for approximately 20-25 minutes, having a fan assisted electric oven i find that this is ample time on 180 for this pie.
What to serve it with **********
Well quite a choice, i like to serve mine with roast potatoes, and fresh or frozen vegtables.
Meat Pie and chips, baked beans.
Meat pie Mash and tinned tomatoes. (little bit of gravy too). Meat pie chips and peas.
The Taste **********
Well i did think that this was a lovely piece of pie that i ate, the pastry was just right (perfect cooking i guess) wasnt too dry like most shortcrust pastry can tend to be, and the filling was not too sloppy, in fact i was quite impressed, the meat steak minced was of good quality, i did not taste any lumps of fat or nasty bits, and the onion complemented the meat just right, it was not sloppy and not dry so i guess i will be purchasing this pie again.
It was as good as its picture on the front of the box, and yes it was a bargain for a mere £1.99p.
I would reccommend this pie, and it works out a bit cheaper than buying meat, onions shortcrust pastry etc, as my pastry is the one thing i cant make too cleaver it looks homemade to a degree.
I will definetely recommend this pie, and will buy this again soon.
Thanks for reading and rating my reviews. x.
Summary: will stock up on this one for sure.
