After having tried the dark chocolate bar in the same range and enjoying it, I decided to try the mint creme bar, as I have always been quite a fan of mint confectionery. The packaging is simple but attractive, with the colours reflecting the filling. The packaging includes a picture of the product within which is both helpful and enticing. In the top right hand corner can be found Sainsbury's 'wheel of health' traffic light system to help you make calories, fat, saturated fat, salt and sugar comparisons with other similar products. You need to aim for green and amber and as few reds as possible! Upon opening the wrapper, the smell is ... Read the complete review

I like mint chocolate and dark chocolate. Recently I was at Sainsbury and found that they had their own mint chocolate. I decided to invest 80 pennies and give it a try. The package is quite nice, compared to Tesco's similar products, this looks nicer. In other words, for someone who does not know Sainsbury, for example someone who lives abroad, the package does not give away that this is a supermarket brand. The foilage used to protect the chocolate is quite thin, but it did the job, all the pieces I took were not damaged. The chocolate in itself is not greasy, which some time happens with mint chocolate and does not leave your hands greasy. It ... Read the complete review

Having recently reviewed the soft caramel bar by Sainsburys I thought I would also review the mint creme chocolate bar. Now I have never been a fan of dark chocolate as I find it too bitter and the only time I ever have it is when it is combined with mint flavour, I used to love the Frys bars when I was young and this bar reminds me a bit of those. This is part of a range by Sainsbury and each bar is good value at 79p for 200grams although , in terms of value for money it certainly compares well with brand names of a similar size and has a much nicer taste than the generic brands offerred by Tesco. Perhaps one of the ... Read the complete review

Sainsbury is not my main supermarket for shopping and I have to admit I have not tried too many of their own brand products but one I recently did try and enjoy was the mint crème chocolate bar. It is a dark chocolate bar with a mint crème fondant similar to an after eight but not quite as good. The chocolate is a nice dark and strong tasting one which I think you need when it has a mint centre, although a rich dark chocolate it does not leave a bitter aftertaste like some do. The mint centre is again strong but not too strong and the two flavours complement each other brilliantly. You can spend a lot of money on a good chocolate bar these days but ... Im a chocoholic. But I thought at around 80p I would go for this bar as a cheaper option to a bar of Dairy Milk or any other expensive brand. So I tried it, made a cup of tea and sat down. It's not the greatest chococlate I have ever tasted. The mint cream is excellent. Has a strong minty and tangy flavour. But I don't like it with the dark chocolate shell. Its just too over powering. You have the intense dark chocolate cocoa content with the strong minty flavour its like a senses overload! You cannot sit and let this chocolate melt in your mouth like a bar of galaxy. I give it to you that it is cheap for a large bar of chocolate, but I would ... Read the complete review
