I haven't written a food review in ages but I am really addicted to this stuff so thought I should. Originally, I only bought the organic version of Sainsburys Houmous as it was 2p cheaper than the normal version and I knew it would be slightly better for me. This 200g tub cost me 98p, this is the only size it's available in; I'm glad they don't do a bigger one as I always scoff the whole tub in 1 sitting and am pretty sure I would irrelevant of the size! Houmous is made with chickpeas and tahini (a sesame seed paste) garlic and oil. Packaging * * * * * * * * * * The plastic pot is in a cardboard sleeve which is dark ... Read the complete review

Sainsbury's Organic Houmous is the best I have ever tasted. I did literally live off it for two years and I'm still here to tell the tale! It costs about £1 for an average sized tub. It used to be just a plastic tub with a lid with a cardboard sleeve, but more recently they decided to give it a sealed thinner plastic layer which you pull back - for safety or freshness, I don't know. The houmous is thick and creamy and just lovely. You can really taste the flavours. I love to toast some pitta and eat it with that, but it's also great with carrot sticks. I even used it instead of spread in sandwiches - turkey salad sandwiches with houmous are ... Read the complete review

Ever since my first Greek holiday, I have loved the taste of houmous. A vegetarian dip composed of crushed chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and Tahini (a paste made from sesame seeds), it is a deliciously healthy addition to anyone's diet. It's easy to make your own houmous, and this is what I tend to do. The shop bought versions often skimp on the most expensive ingredient - the Tahini - and in addition are too finely blended for my taste. I like recreating the lovely coarse, nutty flavour I enjoyed so much in the Med. And never more so than at this time of year, when there is ice on the car and the clothes are hanging in stiff, frozen rows on the ... Read the complete review

I'm still on my mission to save on my shopping bills but decided to pop a few extras that I don't normally buy as it's Easter. One of things I bought was a tub of Tesco Organic Houmus because my eldest daughter is home this weekend (yay!) & hubby loves it as well. The plastic tub has a good strong lid on it plus a thin plastic seal inside which keeps the whole product fresh - it's also packaged with an attractive cardboard sleeve as shown in the picture. I used to make a lot of houmus at home but it was always so time-consuming & there was often a lot left over so I now buy it as a treat & this Tesco one has a lovely taste ... In my opinion houmous in general is pretty wonderful, Sainsbury's So Organic Houmous is exceptionally good, and take it from me, houmous is my thing! The packaging is appealing and looks good quality reflecting the quality of the product inside. The packaging consists of a plastic tub covered in a cardboard sleeve. Bit of a shame, as maybe they could just label the tub and save a bit of cardboard. I'm all for ditching unnecessary packaging. The houmous cost £1.29 for a 200g tub. A larger version wasn't available. I have seen 400g tubs in other supermarkets, although not necessarily organic. I think this is good value for an organic product. ... Read the complete review
