Advantages: Something for everyone, delicious biscuits

Disadvantages: No nutrition information, probably very high calorie

Well I have to say, when I saw the Product Of The Week yesterday was _Sainsbury's Premium Chocolate and Cream Biscuits_, I knew what had to be done.
Weirdly enough, we had these biscuits in our house about three weeks back, however I had only sampled some of them! There were about 6 of them for me still to try.

So yesterday morning we set of to Sainsbury's (much to my persuasion) for the some shopping. My mum decided that she wanted some of Sainsbury's special coffee aswell, so it was settled. Among that, we would be purchasing the biscuits.

I set off in an attempt to find the little delights hidden on a shelf somewhere. I arrived at the biscuit aisle, full of anticipation. I scowered the various biscuits; the plain, the cream, the jam, the organic, the chocolate, and thats when I spotted them...

Sitting in between the larger packs of assorted packs of biscuits, sat a mainly blue packet. On the top of the pack was a delightful picture of the biscuits contained inside. Most of the biscuits were chocolatey, however the ones which were not were either loaded with cream, or filled fully with jam! The picture looked mouth-watering and my little brothers were glad I had decided I wanted them! Underneath the glorious looking picture was the Sainsbury's "logo", and underneath we were told that these were "_Premium Chocolate and Cream Selection_". We are also told that the biscuits are worth 400g, I thought this was quite good for a weight.

Arriving at the check out, we were faced with the cost. On the shelf I hadn't looked to check what the price was and now I was beggining to get a bit anxious. All was okay however when the sum of £2.49 flashed up on the till. They were by no means cheap, however there are some biscuit assortments which will have a more costly price. The biscuits were plopped into the bag and off we set home.

Arriving home, I decided it was time to sample the treats we had purchased in the supermarket earlier. I retrieved the shiny blue wrapper from the cupboard and sat it on the table. I eased open the end of the plastic-type wrapper, which was reasonably easy to do. I peered inside, and pulled out a black tray containing the biscuits. The biscuits were placed in little dimples in the tray, and there were either one or two of each type. The aroma which slipped out was slighty chocolate-like. However it was not very strong, and the smell of shortbread was more clear.

By this time my little brothers had come downstairs to investigate -tuck in to the biccys-! Before I had even had a chance to look at all of the biscuits, one of my brothers had grabbed the jammy-dodger type one. The JAMMY DODGER type biscuit, looked exactly like its comparison, only slightly bigger. The shortbread-biscuit was a light golden colour and the circle in the middle was pressed full of delicious looking jam. As my brother bit into it his face lit up. Apparantly the shortbread was "delicious" and the jam was very sticky and sweet. This one didn't appeal to me all too much so I didnt mind missing out.

I thought I may aswell offer my other brother one before he kicked up a fuss. He picked the biscuit in the gold wrapper. Before he tried it I had no idea what it may of been. He unwrapped it and took a sniff! Before he even told me what he had sensed, I could detect a slight tangy orange smell floating around in the air, and I was convinced it was orange flavoured. I was proved right when my little brother bit into the chocolate coated biscuit. The biscuit had a thin layer of orange cream, and then surrounded in delicious milk chocolate. "Brother" said the biscuit was very sweet and orange creme was quite tangy, but ws very enjoyabled and he wanted another.

Then it was my turn too chose. I knew I'd be having more than one so I didn't spend to much time on deciding which one too have. The first one I picked up was a dinky looking biscuit. Two golden biscuits sandwiched together with a delcious looking white cream filling. Now I am a bit of a fussy eater, and find the need too disect everything before I eat it. So I eased the two peices of yummy looking biscuit and apart, leaving me with one biscuit with a scraping of cream on, and another peice of biscuit with a layer of the glorious looking cream on. First, I took a bite of the biscuit without the cream on. The taste was brilliant. Slightly oaty, yet slightly short-bready, my tastebuds danced. Im also sure I could detect a slight gingerness to the biscuit, however I could be wrong. Once I had polished off the first round disc, I picked up the other one, and scraped a bit of the cream off with my teeth. It was very pleasent- tasting sweet, and resembeling vanilla. Allround this biscuit was scrumtious and I wished I could have indulged in another.

One of the other types I sampled (more like scoffed), was a a ring biscuit, covered in white chocolate, and drizzeled in dark chocolate. I nibbled a bit of the biscuit and sat it on my tongue. The chocolate melted on my tongue, and left me feeling slightly thirsty. The white chocolate was very creamy, and very sweet and resembled a milky-bar slightly. Infact, it was a cross between a miky-bar and a cadbury dream bar. The dark chocolate drizzle was only slightly noticable and tasted more of milk chocolate than dark- much to my delight! The biscuit inside was quite thick and tasted very yummy. This biscuit wasn't as crunchy as the first one I tried, however it wasn't soggy either. Although this biscuit was nice, it wasnt my favourite.

The final biscuit I will describe is the cream sandwich. This was a pretty plain biscuit however the taste was wonderful! Two light coloured biscuits sandwiched together with again, a creamy centre. The biscuits were alot different to the "ginger-like" one I tried. Infact these biscuits very much resembled short bread, buttery and delicious. Again I disected the biscuits and ate the two halfs sepereatly. The cream in this biscuit was very sweet, again tasting slightly vanilla-ish. The biscuits were glorious tasting, however the cream gave them "the edge"! I would definitly reccomend them.

I did try some of the other types of biscuits, mostly the last time we had them. And although it would take to long to write about _ALL_ the biscuits, I can thoroughly reccomend all of them. Inside the box there are 12 different types of biscuits, and I think (not entirely sure), there were around 28 biscuits altogether! Some of the more popular biscuits had 2 of each variety, and Im sure one even had 3.

After consuming many biscuits, I referred to the back of the pack for nutrition information just to check how much rubbish, and calories and fat I consumed. Much to my dismay, there were no information like this stored! I was very upset and I thought this was a bit un-helpful.
There was ingredients stated on the back of the pack, Im not going to list them all, but as you can imagine, sugar was pretty high up the list!

Among the ones I tried, were various other biscuits. These were either two biscuits sandwiched together with vanilla, orange, chocolate etc creams, plain shortbread biscuits, chocolate coated biscuits, multi-chocolate coated biscuits and foil wrapped.

5 Sense Summary
*Sound- None (Apoligies "TallulahBang"
*Texture- crunchy biscuits and smooth creams
*Sight- Varied- milk, dark, white chocolates, foil wrapped etc.
*Smell- biscuity, chocolatey aroma, very nice
*Taste- All biscuits are nice, some nicer than others, orange cream very tangy, milk and white chocolate very creamy, dark chocolate not too bitter tastes more of milk chocolate.

These biscuits are probably more suited to partys or celebrations than every day consumption. I can imagine these will be extremely popular at Christmas time!

Overall, I'd thoroughly reccomend these biscuits. I did my research, (clever eh!? ) and the Asda equivalent equivalant cost £2.98, for 500g. So the biscuits probably work out around the same price. So my first thoughts that the price was really good was kind of slashed when I found out they were only average.

Great review! I'll have to pick some up the next time I'm in Sainsbury's. I like your 5 senses review; I think there is be a lot of munching sounds coming from these if they're that delicious though! :o)
