A good easy quiche, Would buy again.

I bought this on Monday but didn't get round to eating it until last night, luckily it was still in date. I don't usually buy ready made quiches because of fat content plus I like to try an make my own, but I knew we were going to have a busy week and would need some speedy food. This quiche usually costs £2.79 but it was on offer when I got it for £2.00, so I thought it was a good saving. The quiche comes in a foil tray, inside a cardboard box with a little plastic window. This annoys me a bit, as I don't really need to look at the quiche, I'd rather be able to recycle the box. The information on the box states that each third of a quiche provides... cal 406, fat 30.1g sat fat 17.6g, salt 1.40g, total sugars 3.3g. That is a huge amount of fat, for a third of a quiche, but I don't plan on eating it too regularly so I'm not hugely bothered. The first thing I noticed about the quiche when I got it out was the shape, I was fully expecting it to be round, but it was like a flower shape with curvy edges, it looked really nice, and it made a change to boring normal round quiche. To cook this it says to take it out of the foil and place in the oven on about 180degrees for 25 minutes, you can also cook it from frozen but it takes longer. After the allotted time the quiche looked lovely and golden brown, and the pastry looked nice and crusty. I cut it into four and we ate it quite quickly afterwards, as I can't stand cold food, and cold quiche is pretty disgusting to me, but you could eat it colder. The texture of the quiche was really soft, and not at all rubbery, which was great, there was loads of watercress in there not a huge amount of salmon but a fair few small chunks. The quiche was quite creamy tasting and very fishy due to the salmon, but I really enjoyed it. The salmon chunks were well cooked and a lovely pale pink colour, my only criticism was that there wasn't a few more chunks in there. The pastry was buttery and crusty but melted in the mouth, and was clearly good quality. I really enjoyed this quiche and I would buy it again. I think there could be a bit more salmon, but it was very tasty and for £2.00 for convenience you can't really argue.
