I remember when I was a kid and you used to be able to go into the sweet shop and you would always ask for a quarter of whatever it was you wanted. My brother always used to tell me to go and get marshmallows because they weigh so little that you get more for your money. Me being a young impressionable child believed him rather than realising the fact that they just charged you a lot of money for a big bag of marsh mallows. Anyway I digress slightly but the point of the story is that I am quite a fan of marshmallows.
I bought these marshmallows the other day after having a hot chocolate the previous night and wishing I'd had some marsh mallows in the cupboard. I didn't really have much of a thought process over which marsh mallows I bought I was just in Sainsbury's and saw there own brand on the shelf and into the basket they went.
I had them that night with a cup of hot chocolate and snacked on them over the next few days, and this is what I thought of them.
The Packet
The mallows come in a plastic packet that contains 75g worth of product which doesn't sound like much but remember my little story and of course you will realise that its actually a decent amount. The front of the packet consists of a pink background with a picture of eight marshmallows lined up in two rows on a grey background. The front contains the words ' Sugar free mallows' and has a little note stating that the product contains 'only natural colours'. On the back of the pack is all the standard information you would expect (Ingredients, Nutritional Info and Storage Instructions).
I quite liked the design of the packet as it wasn't to in your face but let you know what was in there. Another important feature of the packet was that it was pretty easy to get into which is always handy.

All the nutritional information is based per 100g
Energy - 200kcal
Protein - 3.3g
Carbohydrates - 76g

The recommended number of mallows per serving is four however if your anything like me this will be totally overlooked as they are far too nice to eat only 4.
Ingredients
I've decided to start including the ingredients on my food reviews as it enables to see if you are allergic to any of the ingredients which I have overlooked in previous reviews.

Nothing in there that I would trigger an allergy but you never know. Obviously the pork gelatine means that this product is unsuitable to vegetarians. There is also an interesting little note that ' Excessive consumption may induce laxative effect' so sticking to the 4 mallows per serving maybe a good idea after all.
Appearance & Taste
Well surprise surprise.... They look like marshmallows!!!! Sainsbury's have gone for the standard mallow colours of white and baby pink which are rather pleasant to look at. The mallows are of a decent size and are probably a similar size to the flumps brand if you are familiar with those. Unlike flumps there are no fancy patterns on the mallows they are just standard cylinders which is fine by me.
They tasted pretty good and surprise surprise again........ They taste like marshmallows!!! They were really tasty but unlike some marshmallows I have tried they weren't at all sickly and I felt as though I could eat the whole packet. I first tried them on top of my hot chocolate and I really enjoyed them and they went all gooey pretty quickly under the heat which is how I like them. I finished the rest of them up over the week with using them in my hot chocolates or just pinching a couple out of the bag and eating them on their own, both of which where pleasant ways to eat them.
The Price
At only 49p I don't see how you can go wrong with these. I'm not sure how much they would be in the sweet shop if I bought myself the traditional quarter but these days who can be bothered going all the way to a sweet shop when you can get them from the supermarket on your shopping run.
So yeah 49p not bad in my eyes and definitely worth it.
The Verdict
SPOT ON!!!!! I genuinely cant pick an faults with this product they are sugar free and nut free which is helpful for those of you with nut allergies and at 49p I consider them to be cheap especially since a bag will probably last you a few days. The product looks good as well as tasting great and should take a place at the back of everyone's kitchen cupboard.
