Recently I developed a craving for McDonalds Bacon and Egg McMuffins and thought to myself, I wonder if I could make better ones. The answer is yes! I popped down to my local Sainsburys and was pleasantly surprised when I spotted these Cheese and Black pepper muffins. 4 for £1.25 is a reasonable price. I simply put them in the toaster until lightly browned, grill some streaky bacon, and a thin slice of cheddar cheese, fry an egg (on both sides) and then devour. They have a floury covering and the taste of cheese really comes through. I actually added more pepper as I like lots of it but that's down to personal taste. I will hand it to Sainsbury`s, You can taste the difference. A toasted muffin makes a pleasant change, more often than not I buy the plain muffins. For a start they often cost less and then you have the choice of a sweet or savoury filling. This morning I had a toasted muffin with raspberry jam on the top for my breakfast. Savoury muffins make a nice supper time snack. Some of the cheaper cheese muffins just don't seem to work for me, the cheese powder that is used in the manufacturing process tastes very `tangy` and very artificial. I have to say that I wasn't planning on my second DooYoo review being about muffins. Nevertheless, food is a mini passion of mine, so it was inevitable that a food review would creep in sooner rather than later. Sainsbury's Taste the difference Cheese & black pepper muffins were a last-minute addition to our shopping basket this afternoon for Mr Cheetarah's late lunch.
