Advantages: Very tasty with chicken
Disadvantages: A little expensive?
Sainsbury's Taste The Difference Harissa & Rose Rub
50g tin
Sainsbury's Taste The Difference Harissa & Rose Rub is "a warm blend of crushed chillies, coriander and cumin with fragrant rose petals." What is fantastic about it is that it saves you the time and effort when you want to have a nice meal but don't want to spend a long time in preparing it. Just rub as many chicken fillets as you want with this Harissa rub and put them in a greased oven tray and you will enjoy fantastic spicy chicken with no effort at all.
This product can be bought from Sainsbury's for £2.25 for the 50g tin, which seems to be a little expensive, but considering the fact that it's just spices that are used occasionally, I think it's good value for money. It comes in a very nice tinplate can which has a clear section on top through which you can see the product inside. This is one of the "special" products that can only be bought from Sainsbury's; this has to be one of the advantages of this retailer.
Let's take a closer look at the product. I can't start telling you how amazing the smell of this Harissa rub is. You can notice the amazing aroma of coriander, red pepper, and rose petals very distinctly, and together they smell wonderful, yet these are not all the ingredients. It might be useful to know what it contains exactly. The ingredients are: Coriander Seed (18%), Dehydrated Red Pepper, Dehydrated Garlic, Cumin Seed (9%), Caraway Seed, Paprika, Chilli, Sea Salt, Black Pepper, Dehydrated Rose Petals (2%), and Mint.
The dehydrated red pepper in this Harissa rub is used along with its seeds which can be recognized as crunchy pieces which definitely make this product hot. Still, it is not too hot, and anyway, when you start eating you can't stop. The fragrant rose petals are a fantastic addition to this blend of spices; they not only make your chicken fillets look more appealing, but they also add a great flavor.
The coriander seed gives one of the most recognizable flavors, and it tastes so good that it made me buy some coriander that I now add to many of my dishes. The other fantastic flavor comes from cumin seed which is one of my favorite spices.
This product is not suitable for peanuts or nut allergy sufferers due to the methods used in the manufacture of this product. If you are not allergic to nuts, this Harissa rub is definitely recommended.
Summary: Great spices for chicken.
