Advantages: A smooth vinegar, it has the hole already there for ease of pouring, goes lovely with chips!

Disadvantages: -----------

I usually buy either the Tesco or Sainsbury's own brand vinegar as it's something I don't use very often so it makes sense to buy the cheaper option, especially for a product like vinegar as there is so little difference between brands.

While in Morrisons recently with my sister I remembered I was completely out of vinegar and spotted that Sarsons Malt Vinegar was on special offer at 28p for a 250ml bottle, now that's cheaper even than the own label vinegar so I picked up a couple of bottles.

The vinegar comes in a nicely curved bottle with flip top lid that also incorporates a ready poked sprinkler. This is important as it's so easy to go overboard with vinegar and spoil your meal, but the cheaper bottles tend to have screw off lids so you either have to poke your own hole (which invariably ends up too big) or cover the neck of the bottle with your thumb and hope for the best.

I find this Sarsons vinegar to have a rounded and smooth flavour, much smoother in fact than my usual supermarket brands. I never thought it possible, but I can actually taste the difference between this and cheaper vinegar. This Sarsons is not so acidic and compliments my food rather than just adding the all encompassing taste of vinegar.

I've had it on chips, sprinkled over salad, soaked seafood sticks in it and all sorts and it has performed perfectly every time. I find my usual vinegar overpowers more delicate flavours such as cucumber but Sarsons didn't have this effect and I was able to enjoy a dash of vinegar on my cucumber slices.

The normal price of this vinegar is around 70p, and I must admit I'm converted even though there is a big difference in cost to my usual 32p vinegar.

Summary: You will certainly be able to tell the difference between this and cheap vinegars.
