Imaginitive Cuisine 'Balsamico' Rich Glaze
by xxfoxyredxx I love the balsamic flavour so when I saw this recently in Sainsbury's for £1.99 a bottle I really fancied giving it a go as it is multi purpose and I can use it in a wide variety of ways! The Packaging.... 150ml squeezy, clear plastic bottle with a black flip top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole. Round ... the middle of the bottle there is a picture of red chilli's to the top of it and under that in silver and black writing I'm told it is 'Additions' Imaginative Cuisine Balsamico, Rich Balsamic Glaze which is a drizzle, glaze and marinade garnish and chilli in flavour and the size is displayed on the bottom (as I've listed already). On the back of the bottle all in white writing I'm told a bit about what it is, given serving suggestions, told how to store it, ingredients and nutritional advice is given, the best before date is stamped on, contact details for Imaginative Cuisine Limited are given and finally there is a bar-code on there. A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Bottle.... Balsamico is made from the finest Lambrusco and Trebbiano grapes grown in the Modena region of Italy. Grape juice is reduced and fermented in oak, juniper and cherry barrels then carefully blended with traditional well aged balsamic vinegar. Did you know chilli is just one of six great Balsamico flavours! Why not try Cherry, Fig, Garlic, Original or Vanilla? Serving Suggestions.... Drizzle over salads, pizza, pastas, jacket potatoes. Glaze roasted meats and Mediterranean vegetables towards the end of cooking. Ideal for Bbqs. Use as a decorate plate garnish. The glaze Itself.... This stuff is really great! It is a dark brownish colour the same as soy sauce in that respect and although runny does have a glossy body to it and it isn't like water but it isn't thick either and is very easy to squirt out of the bottle and control. I use this to glaze meat and fish, I love it on salad and sprinkled on cooked vegetables towards the end of cooking and of course it is nice to use as a dipping sauce with a wide variety of foods. I'd love to use it on the Bbq and stuff as this stuff is delicious! Smell wise, well it smells of vinegar with a hint of sweet to it but it does have a savoury aroma to it. Taste wise it is vinegary in a real quality way with a nice natural sweetness to it with a little hint of chilli that gives it a little kick but it isn't mind blowingly hot or anything. It is rich in flavour and tangy and because of the slight sweetness to it it really does compliment savoury foods very well indeed. Verdict.... If you want to liven up meat and fish and plain old vegetables with ease and with something that looks good try this! It's simple to use, makes a good plate decoration, is superb with a wide range of foods to pep them up and make them taste totally better lol! Nutritional Information.... Per 100g.... Calories: 246 Total Fat: 0.1g Sodium: 0 total carbohydrate: 60g Sugars: 0g Protein 1.4g Available in lots of supermarkets you just have to keep your eyes peeled for it or look at online shops for it. Hellmann's Balsamic Vinaigrette
by quissue Hellmanns Balsamic Vinaigrette was not top of my shopping list of things to buy, so I was most surprised when I went to my local resturant a while back and had a meal with this drizzled around the edge of the plate as a garnish and over the salad I was about to eat. My initial thoughts were oh dear! I am not going to like ... this, as it has salad dressing all over it, but to my surprise I did like it and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. After finishing it I went and asked the chef what the dressing was on and around my salad and he told me he used the Hellmanns Balsamic Vinaigrette to help give it a lift. Well it certainly did that and I thanked him for the wonderfully tasty meal and left thinking I would add this item to my shopping list after all. The flavour is a little sharp and you really do not need a lot of it for it to go a long way. It is a dark coloured vinaigrette and tastes unlike anything I have ever tasted before which gives it a unique flavour of its own. I suppose the best way I can describe it is it is slightly worcester saucy with a honey and something else sort of taste to it. It is very light and vinigary which you would expect, but not overpowering if you do not overuse it. The bottle comes in a fun type container shaped in a funky way. with an equally blue fun lid to it. there is a teardrop label on the front in cream with blue wording. and another label on the top around the base of the blue lid. the contents showing through are a dark brown. Priced between 69p to £1.29 depending on offers I thought this item a good buy as it keeps a lot longer than the sell buy date on the top of the pack. Used carefully it can enhance many dishes and salads alike and with practice you too can leave dainty designs around your plate edges too. Read the complete review |

Hellmann's Balsamic Vinaigrette
by Vicki1989 For the last year I have been searching and searching for the perfect salad dressing, as I had been getting bored with my average caesar salad dressing and fancied more of a vinagrette. I had been trying various ones from my local supermarket but didn't seem to be able to find one with a significant and really nice taste. I wanted my ... salad to taste like I could eat more and more of it! So eventually I came across this Hellman's Balsamic vinaigrette on offer and thought I would give it a try. My initial thought was that the colour was not too appealing and I didn't think it would last me long as it's not the biggest bottle in the world. However, when I poured the dressing over my salad and took my first mouthful it really was that perfect dressing I was looking for!! The taste is a little vinagery but that is what you expect from a vinagrette. It just makes your salad taste so much nicer! You don't need to put too much on as it's quite strong so the bottle lasts much longer than I initially thought. I have actually had the bottle for a few months now (even though it says use within four weeks - its still perfectly fine) and I still have a little left. Another good thing with this dressing is that it isn't actually too bad for you, unlike some caesar dressings which are really creamy. This only has 82 calories per 100ml and 2.7g of fat (0.4g is saturated) so compared to others it's really a better option! I have actually tried making my own balsamic vinagrette with balsamic vinager and olive oil but it didn't seem to taste quite as nice as this dressing. You can catch this on offer at the moment at Morrison's for 64p! It normally costs around £1.29 which still isn't too expensive. So, I would definately recommend this to anyone if you're looking for a nice and not too fattening salad dressing! Read the complete review |
