I love cooking, but sometimes I just don't have the time to go the whole hog and cook dishes from scratch. And takeaways while delicioud, can be pricey. This is where pre-prepared sauces come in very handy . I've been a fan of Sharwoods Sauces for a long time - my dads a bit of a curry nut, and when I was living at home, we'd have at least one a week, always with a Sharwoods sauce . When I moved out, I was already biased towards the brand, and kept on buying it . Recently I joined Weight Watchers, and have been looking for ways to carry on enjoying my favourite foods in a healthier way, so when I saw this 'Lighter' version of a Korma , into my ... I like Sharwood's sauces. We always have one or two in the stock cupboard. This is a mild curry sauce flavoured with coconut, cardamon and saffron. It has a lower fat content than the non light version. To be honest it doesn't taste any different to me. It is a creamy sauce which goes well with chicken and pork. I have also used it with smoked fish. I don't think it would be a good accompaniment for more subtle flavoured fish because the coconut taste would overpower it. The nice thing about these cook in sauces is that you can put them on the browned meat, put them in the oven and then go and do something more interesting. (Like looking at ... These Sharwoods sauces were on special offer a couple of weeks ago in Tesco where it was buy one get one free and one of the jars I picked up was this lighter korma, I was a bit worried that the lower calories would result in less flavour however I need not have worried on that score as the korma was nice and tasty. The korma mix was a pale orangy brown colour, not the most appealing sight in the world I must say as it looked quite congealed in the jar as well. Before using the sauce I first sliced some chicken fillets into smaller pieces and then fried these in the wok with some olive oil and garlic, then I added mushrooms and a chopped onion and made sure ... This to me always should be in my cupboard. When it comes to curry's the weaker they are the better so this mild, coconut flavoured sauce is perfect for me. It comes in a large glass jar, it has quite a long shelf life too with them usually having a best before date which is a little short of a year from the day that you buy it. Price wise its roughly £1.40 a jar however I know most supermarkets sell two jars for £2 so that is why I always have one in stock. The sauce itself is extremely thick so I usually add a tiny amount of water when im cooking with it. Its a pale mustard colour, with onion in it too. It has a strong coconut aroma to it personally I think ... Read the complete review
