... although the ready-to-eat ones are not quite as good as what I would expect in my favourite Indian restaurants. Nevertheless, they are crispy, tasty and go well eaten on their own, with chutney, or crumbled over your curry. I've been buying them from Sainsbury's for years and haven't had a dud packet yet, although you do get the occasional single poppadum that isn't quite as well cooked as it should be, but it's by no means a frequent occurrence. In this week's shopping they cost £1.49 for 8, making them just ...more

Premium Review Sharwood's Ready to Eat Puppodums: Sharwoods hit the mark (464 words)

I'm a great fan of Indian food and regularly cook my own curries from one of my preferred cookbooks. But, as much as the curry itself, eating Indian is as much about presentation and what goes with it. There's always a dhal, Geeta's chutney and, if my wife hasn't made naan dough for me, Sharwood's Poppadums. There's a choice of ready-to-eat or ready-to-fry. We had plain, but I have had the others before, and enjoyed them ...  Read the complete review

Puppodums One of my favourite parts of a Indian take away or an actual sit down Indian meal are the puppodums and so when I found out that you can buy ready to eat puppodums from Sharwoods I was quite excited and interested to try them and see whether they were as good as authentic, proper Indian Puppodums. Sharwoods is a British food company which has actually been around since 1889. I would say they are probably the most recognized maker of foreign cuisine products in this country. They produce sauces, breads, noodles etc for use in Chinese, Indian and South East Asian cooking and in my opinion are generally very good. Apparently, according to an ...  Read the complete review
