Let me explain something from the beginning. I am no masterchef:-) like several of my previous reviews will confirm. However more recently I have had cause to 'dabble' a bit in the kitchen department. The reason being is that I work from home, and often my wife likes me to have something on the go, for when she gets home from work. I also look after my youngest a couple of days a week and he likes nothing more than making a few cakes. Usually fairy cakes, were even I can't go wrong. Up until last week I used to buy a fairy cake packet, with cartoon characters on etc. This would often set me back upto £2 a box. This was until I read on here I could get a mix ... I regularly bake and find it a really enjoyable hobby, its something I have done since I was little because my mom used to be a semi profressional cake decorator and so I picked it up from an early age. Silver Spoon Icing Sugar is, in my opinion, an absolute store cupboard staple for any aspiring baker, the quality is impressive and its also very versatile. At the moment 500g is around 75p in most supermarkets, it does seem to have managed to maintain a relatively stable price as other sugar items have risen quite dramatically. I get through a box this size with just two 9" round cakes but its not too expensive and very good value for the ... Read the complete review

When I was youner my grandma and I always used to bake cakes at weekend. My favourites were the Coffee cake or the Marble cake. We always seemed to make large, share sized cakes, but never little fairy cakes or little cup cakes. Thouh now when I get the urge to bake, I tend to make little single sized cakes. To ice them, I always use Silver Spoon icing sugar, as I do feel it is the best around! Packaging: The icin sugar comes in a cardboard box. One thin that attracts me to it is its pretty pink colour. On the front there is a big spoon image, hense the name! When you open it up you will find a little cardboard style bag. Opening this a puff of white ... Read the complete review

SILVER SPOON ICING SUGAR. The Packaging ********** Comes in a carboard box, reasealable lid, also recyclable which is good. Inside the box is a paper white bag which is easy to open up, and contains 500grams of Icing Sugar. This product i brought today as i have been baking cakes for my little grandaughters birthday party, which is for tomorrow, she will be ten years old, and i always buy this icing sugar as it really works well. The Results ********** This icing sugar mixes well with a little water, and it is great because it keeps in the cupboard for a little while, and you can use as much or as little ... My kids love making cakes, but what they enjoy the most is icing them. What is icing sugar? Well is simply sugar that's been ground down to a fine powder with a small amount of cornstarch or in the case of Silver Spoon's version Tricalcium Phosphate (E341) added to stop the sugar clumping together. This icing sugar comes in a waxed bag inside a cardboard box, but that still doesn't protect it fully from becoming damp, so be careful where you store it, because you might still end up with lumpy icing sugar if it gets to wet. This is Silver Spoon's original icing sugar, and despite the introduction of a new Royal Icing Sugar pack (with ... Read the complete review
