Advantages: delicious

Disadvantages: messy

When I was youner my grandma and I always used to bake cakes at weekend. My favourites were the Coffee cake or the Marble cake. We always seemed to make large, share sized cakes, but never little fairy cakes or little cup cakes. Thouh now when I get the urge to bake, I tend to make little single sized cakes. To ice them, I always use Silver Spoon icing sugar, as I do feel it is the best around!

Packaging:
The icin sugar comes in a cardboard box. One thin that attracts me to it is its pretty pink colour. On the front there is a big spoon image, hense the name! When you open it up you will find a little cardboard style bag. Opening this a puff of white powder will come out so you need to be careful. It is not th emost practical of packaging, but quite attractive!

First impressions:
When you first see the powder it does look like it is going to be a bit of a disaster! Even just pouring the fresh white powder into a bowl can be a bit of a tast! Thouh when you add water and begin to mix it does become a bit easier after you have gotten over the initial shock that your kitchen is goin to be a mess! Once you have mixed it all up, you are ready to decorate!

Taste:
Once you have slopped your icing onto a little cake and spread it out evenly, you can add various decorations, such as choc chips. This can improve the flavour and the texture too. You can also add food colourin, for example peppermint or coffee, to give it a lift. I just prefer normal icing. It is very sticky sickly sweet, and has a strong sugary flavour. It leaves your teeth feeling rough too, but it is very delicious!

Nutrition:
Things this sweet are never going to be healthy! The information needed is printed in a little blue box on the side of the packet, easy to read! It t urns out each 100g contains just short of 400 calories. Okay that is not too good, but considering you wont really need a fifth of this for one little cake, it is quite reasonable!

I paid 80p for a medium sized box of this, and you can get a larger one for around £1.20. It makes quite a bit of icin, enough I would say for a hundred or so cakes, depending on how much you use! It is well worth every penny and is utterly delicious!
