Advantages: Easy to Use
Disadvantages: A bit Messy
Let me explain something from the beginning. I am no masterchef:-) like several of my previous reviews will confirm. However more recently I have had cause to 'dabble' a bit in the kitchen department. The reason being is that I work from home, and often my wife likes me to have something on the go, for when she gets home from work. I also look after my youngest a couple of days a week and he likes nothing more than making a few cakes. Usually fairy cakes, were even I can't go wrong.
Up until last week I used to buy a fairy cake packet, with cartoon characters on etc. This would often set me back upto £2 a box. This was until I read on here I could get a mix for 23p (another review) and this worked well. However it left me short of icing and cake decoartions. So i bought some Silver Spoon icing sugar. I'd actually seen my wife and mum using this and it looked quite simple.
In 1972 Silver Spoon was established as the retail brand of the British Sugar Corporation on a regional basis, this was until 1977 when it went National. Silver Spoon became recognised as manufacturers of consistent quality sugar in every bag. It is even by appointment to HM the Queen. So what is good for our Lizzy is good for me too.
Going back to my experience with Silver Spoon. The thing I found most easy was that all I needed to do was add water, and mix it to a smooth paste. I then added a bit of food colouring to change the colour of the icing. As Mr Meerkat would say 'simples...........

There is no end to the amount of recipes that you can use icing sugar on. You can obviously use it to make Glace icing like I have said or maybe to make Butter Cream. My Mum loves sprinkling it over Mince Pies (I think it is to cover the burn marks:-))
Finally on the pack it says that you can see a selection of delicious recipes and some handy hints and tips on www.silverspoon.co.uk or you can get a recipe booklet by writing to

This Icing Sugar comes highly recommended.
Summary: A great Icing Sugar, which covers a multitude of mistakes!!
