Advantages: Meltingly nice and tasty
Disadvantages: None
These have something in common with Quavers - that is the lovely fizzy feeling you get on your tongue when you pop one in your mouth. the difference between these and Quavers for me, apart from the obvious taste, is that with Quavers I need to be in the mood for them.
Skips on the other hand I could eat these all day. Like Quavers, I don't find one bag fulfilling, but I really do like these. I don't need to question myself as to whether I want a pack (or three) - if they are there, they will get eaten. End of!
This is unusual really considering I cannot stand 'real life' prawns. I find the flavour of skips irresistable, but real prawns? YUK, everytime.
So what are skips? I didn't read the ingredients last time I had a bag, but after a little research it seems they are made from tapioca!! I always though, due to their texture, they were some kind of potato snack.
They have a similar colour and texture to a crisp, which would suggest potato. They are shaped like little umbrellas, though I really think this is meant to signify some little sea creatures - a prawn shape might be asking too much. They have a very mild fish taste and I suspect there is a mild dusting of paprika on them.
They really are delicious and one bag should make and excellent snack for a youngster, though an adult really will need a bag or two to feel as if they have had something filling.
Try them between two slices of bread!
Summary: A simple snack
