Advantages: Lots of sweets and flavours

Disadvantages: Lots of sugar

As I was travelling to work the other day it was damp rainy and downright miserable. Then as if by magic a rainbow appeared in the grey sky. I glanced at it now and then as I hummed to the radio. After a few minutes I found myself humming the skittles advertisement song......................you know the one with A rainbow of fruit flavours. This of course gave me the idea of buying a packet as I did, and you now the the dubious pleasure of having to read my review on them.

The red plastic packaging is both colourful and bright with small pictures of Skittles forming a mini rainbow. Reds, Yellows Purples and Greens. The word Skittles is flashed across the from in very large letters.

Each tiny flavour filled sweet is only bout 1/4 of an inch in diameter. They are round with bevelled sides to form a small pan drop shaped sweet. They are as I said very brightly coloured and coated in a crispy shiny shell. The purple one is the first to grab my attention since I am very much hoping it is going to be Black currant flavour. I am not disappointed, I have placed 2 in my mouth since they are so small and the fruity flavour is bursting all over my tongue. They are quite hard initially but soon soften and become nice and juicy................................Mmmmmm definitely black currant. The other flavours are sampled in turn and produce the same response. Kids are going to love these the flavours are so good, with the exception of the orange which I was not all that keen on. I'm not usually a fan of yellow sweets since they are inevitably lemon flavoured. Skittles lemon was somewhat refreshing and although they are better than most I far preferred the black currant and raspberry.

There are a fair amount of sweets in each little bag, probably in the region of 35-50. They weigh in at 40p per packet which isn't to bad, about average really. Being a chew they are absolutely loaded with sugar so limit your intake and keep the toothbrush handy. If you ever find your mouth a bit dry these little sweets will soon remedy that with a burst of fruity juicy flavour that will bring your taste buds out of hibernation.

All in all I would have to give the Skittles a massive big YES. If you have the patience you can separate them into their different flavours and enjoy each flavour individually or do as i most often do just mix them up and enjoy the fruitiness.

Summary: A lovely juicy chewy sweet
