Advantages: Tasty

Disadvantages: Dont like the new tube

Just bought one of the new hexagonal shaped packs of Smartie, they call it a hexatube. It was 39p in Morrisons but may be available for less elsewhere.
Opening it I found more difficult that the origianl type that had a plastic top. With those you could squeeze the tube and it would just pop off. I remember having fun seeing how far you could pop it.
There is also no letter on the new type tops like the old ones.

The tube is made of a thin cardboard and you open it along the perforations. Once opened it folds back on a hinge and reseals but not as well as the original. Upon opening you discover the open package has a restriction in, so when you try to pour the smarties out you only normally manage to get one out at a time. I remember with the old ones you could pour the contents out very easily.
My tube is emblazoned with the words blue is back and it also says no artificial colours or flavours. They still taste the same but the colours are more subdued. The crisp shell cracks as you bite into them to get at the tasty chocolate contents.

I have emptied the tube and the contents are 33 Smarties in total meaning a cost of over 1p each. Still not expensive but i wpould have liked there to have been 39 in total. The tube being all cardboard now means it is easier to recycle.
The breakdown of colours of the 33 is as follows,
6 Blue
5 Brown
6 Green
6 Pink
5 Yellow
1 Red
1 Orange
3 Purple.
The subdued colours mean that any children eating them are less likely to get hyperactive from any E numbers.
If you eat a whole tube you will obtain 174 calories. The pack gives the nutritional information for 100 grams of product but the tube doesnt appear to have a weight on.

I thoroughly recommend the product but dont eat too many of them, i still prefer the old style tube but the new tube doesnt stop me eating them.

Summary: Great product shame about the tube.
