Advantages: nice texture
Disadvantages: not as good as I reembered them, small packet
If there ever was a league table for crisp flavour bacon whether it be crispy, smoky or sizzling must be the king of flavour. There is something comforting about a nice bag of bacon crisps. I think it is the same comfort qualities t as a bacon sandwich. Out of these my three favourite s used to be Golden Wonder bacon, One of the most familiar bacon crisps are Frazzles and these will be the ones I will be reviewing for your pleasure and mine today! I was so looking forward to the Frazzles. We had bought a 10 pack of Smiths crisps in Asda for about £1.50. It was a Smiths variety pack that also had Chip Sticks and quaver clone things (I can not remember what they are called). The two bags of frazzles would portably be the most sought after and fought over amongst the selection pack as they are just so darn good. You can also get them individually for about 30 pence from supermarkets, newsagents, corner stores and petrol stations. However when I opened them for my snack break I was really disappointed. Read on to find out why? What are Frazzles? Frazzles are corn based bacon flavoured snacks. The packet says original Frazzles but I am not sure there were any other flavours. Sat and vinegar or cheese Frazzles w just not be the same The packaging. Frazzles come in a brownty red packet the Frazzles logo is yellow and very angular. It says on the front that thy are Smith Frazzles but on the back it contradicts itself by saying they are made by walkers. Obviously walkers is trying to take over every single crisps and snack company in Britain. Perhaps we need a petition to save our little snack companies. Anyway I m digressing. The packet has all the usual information such as best before date, ingredients. The packet itself is quite small for a crisp packet and is plasticy rather than the high foil ones most crisps are in! Now to the interesting bit! I open the bag and have a good sniff. The waft is 2
/3s corn to 1/3 bacon. I have look inside. There are the little babies. Each Frazzle is about three inches long and one inch wide. They are ridged and have little red lines to resemble lovely crispy bacon. I put one in my mouth. Where is the bacon flavour? I remember these being very strong on the bacon flavour but all I can taste is he corn. The texture is sort of crumbly once in the mouth but not too bad. They are quite light crisps to have. They are not the crunchiest of crisps. After a while the bacon flavour began to appear but I remember them being much stronger. They are not too salty either although you do get a small coating of salt and flavouring on your fingers but they do pass the non-stinky finger test later on after eating them. I was going to tell you how bad these are for you but it seems the nutrition is on the multipack wrapper that is no a hand. These did fill a whole but I was disappointed as it is a smaller bag than average and the bacon flavour was not the same as I used to be. Perhaps it was just this bag that was not as good. Perhaps I need to eat another couple of bags just to make sure. Perhaps I should found the Stop walkers before they ruin other snacks right now Walkers can be contacted at Consumer services Department Walkers snack Foods PO Box 25 Leicester Le8 8ZU www.walkers.co.uk
