Advantages: Delicious, sweet, kernals have all been popped

Disadvantages: Not as low in fat as the brand would suggest

I am always on the look out for a low fat snack to indulge in without breaking my Weight Watchers plan, I am not the biggest fan of Snack A Jacks as I find them too cardboard-like and anyway the flavour is only on the outside so as soon as that's gone you're left with a tasteless and too hard mouth full of stuck together puffs. And that is the only way I can describe Snack A Jacks.

However, I was given a packet of their Butter Toffee Popcorn in my Weight Watchers meeting last week and think they are delicious. They're not the healthiest snack on the market with 149 calories and over 3g of fat in each 35g bag, but considering how many calories a packet of Butterkist will set you back then I think these are a pretty good alternative.

The popcorn has a lovely texture, it's dry as you'd expect from popcorn but has a wonderful caramel flavour which blends beautifully with the buttery taste that underlies the whole bag of popcorn. They smell strongly of toffee and I was worried they were going to be synthetic tasting but I was wrong and think they are at least as good as the Butterkist popcorn my granddaughter eats.

I love the crispiness of this popcorn, the toffee coating has set slightly to give the popcorn a small crunch as you first bite into a piece which is not dissimilar to the sugar shell you find on some chocolate bars although obviously this is much thinner.

I must admit I won't eat this too often even though I enjoyed it so much simply because of the high calorie and fat content which makes slotting it into my diet rather difficult. I savoured this bag though and made them last for as long as possible, I was impressed that there wasn't a single unpopped kernal in the bag, I hate the unpopped ones since I cracked a tooth some years ago on a kernal so am happy to confirm that every single kernal has been nicely puffed up in this bag so no risk of bad teeth here - unless you count the sugar content that is!

You can buy these individually for around 45p or in a multi-pack of six which would probably cost anything up to £2, not a bad price for such a tasty treat really but to be honest you'd be better off to spend your money on some lower fat crisps to make the most of your daily calorie allowance.

Summary: A lovely snack, although not low enough in calories or fat for me to indulge very often.
