Advantages: Nice taste
Disadvantages: Old fashioned
Well, along with Mars, Snickers in the 90s was a very popular chocolate, if not the most popular. But, with age, and many new chocolates out on the market, is Snickers still the best? Well, with its caramel and nuts, it does make you go weak at the knees, but if you went into a shop, would you buy Snickers? Or would it still even be there? Snickers is an all time favourite and throughout the 90s there were different adverts for it every 6 months it help sell it. Mars and Snickers were one of the first chocolate bars to be sold, and if you didn’t want a box of chocs, these were brill. Snickers is still very, very appealing to a lot of people, but because of the variety on the market on the market at the moment, sadly old Snickers aren’t having the best of times! **The Taste?** Well, at one time Snickers was my favourite chocolate bar. I used to have one every night, and god did I enjoy it! I used to love the milky chocolate with the nuts wrapped in caramel! I often found, though, that the bar was sometime difficult to bite into, and it would take a good bite to get it in your mouth! You really did, and still have to, bite hard, because the nuts can be hard to bite through. The milky chocolate around it is barely tasted, because unlike other chocolates, Snickers has an awful lot of filling, and doesn’t hold back. The filling entails the nuts and caramel! The nuts are pretty large, and as I said can be difficult to bite into. The caramel is divine, and it always tastes top notch! The chocolate isn’t hard at all, and is easily edible, and it is absolutely superb. It is Milk chocolate, and I think with filling, Cadbury’s isn’t always the best. I think the chocolate is really milky with the bar, and mix superbly well with the nuts and caramel to make you want another and then another. I wouldn’t say that Snickers had an addictive taste. I th
ink when it was my favourite, that’s what I liked about it, as you can merely eat one, and maybe two if you’re greedy! It’s a marvellous taste, but it’s nice and easy to leave it just as one. **The Smell?** I find with some chocolate bars, you can’t smell the inside, well this is no different! But, what is a treat is you can smell the lovely milk chocolate, and be in store for some of that! The chocolate is very much different to other one’s, I feel. It has a very different taste to it, and it isn’t like a normal one on Mars. Maybe that has something to do with the filling, but I always think that Snickers has a much nicer outing to it than other bars. The smell is as nice as the chocolate, and like the chocolate isn’t addictive, which if you think about it, is a good thing not a bad thing! Do you really want to turn out like Lisa Riley? **The Packaging?** Well in the 90’s packaging was never the best thing about most things, especially a chocolate bar. Nowadays, it’s important and people try to make it colourful and eye catching. Sadly, Snickers obviously hasn’t heard of that, and has a very bland, black and brown cover, with red writing. Theirs and mars’ is exactly the same in many ways, and obviously in the 90s it wasn’t thought of as important! It has red writing with SNICKERS on the front, then, has a browny kind of background. Not eye catching, not modern, not colourful, not moving with the times, not much cop! But, with the packaging, does it really matter if you’ve got a nice chocolate bar in there? Well, I’ll leave that for you lot to decide! **The Price?** One good thing with the chocolates from the 90’s, they managed to keep their prices quite low, and not up them too much, for us buyers! You used to be able to buy a bar for 20p, many years ago, but obvio
usly it goes, which is fair, because you can’t expect to be paying £4,99 for a box of chocolates and only 20p for a bar, can you? Most chocolate bars are the same price, which is really different compared to the box of chocolates. The box always has a varied price, and never sticks the same to the opponent! All chocolate bars stay around this area, and it’s fair enough, and it’s a pretty nice chocolate bar, and certainly worth the money you pay. You can buy a large Snickers for around 40-50p, whilst an ordinary size bar is around 30-35p! Which I find extremely reasonable! **My Opinion** Well, Snickers is one of the best chocolates from last millennium, and I have no doubt that the chocolate will keep on being made, and sold for many years to come. But, I think Snickers’ place at the top spot has certainly gone, and you will never see it as popular again. The reason for this is the new range of chocolates that everyone is liking and thinking: “Hold on, I can eat something apart from Snickers” Which is a shame because it’s a good chocolate bar all in all. I think the packaging is the worst element of the chocolate bar. It isn’t very flashy and certainly could be better, and that could even help selling, because getting noticed in a shop is extremely important! It has a lovely taste, and is absolutely superb smell wise, and has a nice price. So, in no way you can fault it really. But it’s very nice, but with its opponents in the market, I can’t honestly admit I’ll stick to my old time favourite, and not go off with another! **All in all** Snickers is lovely to have to remember your childhood and old times, but other than that, I think you might pick another bar off the shelf! All right for a blast from the past! Written By: Matt Roberts.
