In August last year I was forced to do the unspeakable … give up chocolate!! Argh! Just to make things even worse …. No more milk in my tea. How bad can it get?! The reason for having to take such drastic measures was because my son was diagnosed with a severe dairy intolerance and as I intended to keep breast feeding it meant I had to give up on all dairy produce. See my op on beating dairy intolerance through breast-feeding for more details if you are interested. So … it was time to start looking seriously at my diet, and at the ingredients in everything that I was consuming. It was hard at first but a couple of months down the track, ... There are a variety of different soya milk's available, and if you're about to try soya milk for the first time it can often be difficult to decide which one to go for, afterall they're typically more expensive than milk so you've got more to lose if you don't like it. One particular brand of soya milk that I tend to stick to is So Good... On first glance you could probably be forgiven for thinking it is milk - afterall, it comes packaged in one of those cardboard-type cartons that some varieties of milk come in... the main graphic on the front of the carton is a glass with a white, milky looking liquid being poured into it... but this is ... There so much hype around nowadays about the benefits of Soya and it was out of curiousity that I picked up a bottle of Soya Milk from Sainsbury's, to find out what all the fuss about. What was this stuff that claimed to be the healthy replacement to my beloved Full Cream Milk. I just had to find out. I put it in the fridge for a couple of hours so that it could chill a bit because I like my milk really cold. From what I saw, as I poured myself a glass, it looked like normal milk and this only increased my optimisim. As I took my first tentative sip and swallowed I had the most violent of reactions. Luckily the kitchen sink is just across the ... Read the complete review

There are so many reasons to give soya milk a try, ranging from being lactose intolerant to being a vegan, and more and more people seem to be drinking soya milk nowadays. As for me, I am a vegetarian rather than a vegan and I do eat cheese but I also try to reduce the amount of dairy products I have as I disagree with the way the dairy industry functions. Therefore a few years ago I decided to try using soya milk instead of regular milk. I haven't regretted this decision at all. There are many different types of soya milk and many different flavours as well. For a special treat it's nice to get the chocolate kind but for every day use you'll want either ... The main point I think people would find useful is that there are so many different soya milks out there and the vary a LOT in terms of price, taste, sweetness, consistency, creaminess and so on. Some soya milks are stored in the fridge in shops (and need to be kept refrigerated at home), these tend to have a shelf life of a few weeks. You can also get long life soya milk which tends to be found alongside the UHT cow milk. Prices vary from around 60p per litre to £1.50 per litre. I have been using soya milk for around 8 years now because I am vegan and think cow milk is made for calfs, not humans. If you are new to soya ... Read the complete review
