I often have a few cereal bars in my store cupboard to snack on now and then as I am trying to cut down the amount of chocolate I eat and I have been trying a few different ones lately. These were my latest trial run and it was perhaps one I will not be trying again. They were not exactly bad in taste but they had very few redeeming features. Don't get me wrong I like special K and I love chocolate but I have to ask what was the point in these bars? All they seemed to be was a small bowl of special K clumped together with some chocolate chips mixed in. The reason why they are only about 90 calories per bar is that the bar is so small and mainly thin air. Think ... Read the complete review

I must admit I'm not a huge fan of cereal bars but lately I've been in a bid to eat a bit healthier and vowed to eat breakfast even if it is just a cereal bar. I have seen adverts on TV for a while now advertising special k cereal and the 14 day plan they have to kick start weight loss. I have tried the cereal and found it to be ok, so I decided to try the bars. At the time of purchasing, these bars were on special at the co-op for 1.50. I decided to try the chocolate chip ones. The cereal bars come in a white cardboard box which is fairly plain displaying the special k logo. The box has a front opening panel that makes them very easy to open. You can find 6 ... I quite often keep cereal bars in my handbag so that if I want to snack on something during the day I have something suitably low in fat to hand to prevent temptation. I am doing the weight watchers plan and the Kellogs Special K bars are a range I rely on quite a lot as each bar is only 1.5 points so ideal as a snack. These bars are quite expensive in my opinion, a box of 6 usually retails for around £2, but at the moment in Asda you can get two boxes for £3 which is a bit better. It does annoy me that stores own varieties are so much less, how can Kellogs justify being so much more? Having tried other varieties though I personally think that the Special K ... I picked up these as the most reasonably priced cereal bar on offer recently, and I do eat a lot of cereal bars. The most important things to me are cost and taste at the moment, but I thought that Special K cereal bars would also be reasonably healthy, and this turned out to be a true assumption. They are low in fat, calories, salt and sugar and contain lots of added vitamins which is a plus. One or two of the ingredients are a bit dodgy - there's an E number lurking in there, but that may well be worth the pay off in terms of benefits. I've noticed that there are various tricks that manufacturers do when it comes to cereal bars - giant packaging and tiny ... Read the complete review

Before I got ill I decided I could do with losing a couple of pounds and started my healthy eating venture. This is something I've never been very good at in the past! Usually I start off with good intentions, but after a couple of weeks I get bored of eating bland rabbit food which, quite frankly, tastes rubbish. Chocolate and cake are so much more appealing don't you think? Heehee. This time I was determined though, and these caught my eye on the supermarket shelf. Never having had Special K cereal I wasn't sure what to expect from these bars. Some bars I've had before (such as Alpen Groove), I've found to be quite dry and not very nice to eat. So I ...
