Advantages: tastes good, is actually spreadable
Disadvantages: -
I love my food but one thing I also love is to have something served either on or with my food. I am more a savoury over sweet person which obviously means things like crisps, bread and toast but toast would not be complete without butter. I have tried lots of butter brands Flora, St Ivel etc but none beat Anchor in my opinion and for years now I have been a loyal Anchor spreader.
When Anchor used to be advertised on TV it used to be a bright sunny background, green grass, blue background and cows. Not exactly the most normal advert but humerous and I like the image that Anchor butter brings.
So the first impressions of Anchor butter well it is a beauty to stare at. Obviously with butter most companies go for the obvious and choose yellow packaging. Anchor do opt for a yellow rectangular tub also. The text is in red as is the anchor which lies on top of the green freshly sprung grass with flowers and hot air balloons in the warm, yellow golden sky. The tub is mainly yellow but it is bright and very appealing.
So butter can be used in cooking but this is not my favourite way of eating it I prefer obviously to spread it on toast. It cannot only be spread on toast but also pancakes, crumpets, rols etc. So the question most of you wonder is probably, is it really that spreadable? Well read on to find out....
So I put my bread into the toaster and let it heat. The toaster pops and out pop two golden slices of lightly toased bread. I put them on the bread board grab my bright Anchor tub and reveal the radiant treasure. The butter knife dives in curls and onto my toast it goes. The butter spreads easily and doesn't get stuck at one part of the toast causing a big clump of butter, it is evenly spread. The butter melts not to the extent of soggy well depending how much you use but nicely giving some flavour to the bread.
The taste itself, well it's creamy warm and just a nice taste. Not too fatty tasting, liquid like or greasy but just perfect. The butter even smells fresh and brightens up any bread it is spread on.
The lid easily closes right down and clicks so that you know your butter will keep freshly sealed. The tub I bought was a 500g one.
Apparently it says it is made with New Zealand butter which is maybe why it's so good. This can be kept in the freezer but only for a maximum time of 3 months and I prefer to keep it in the fridge so that I can just take it out and use it.
For a typical 100g of this spread it is 544kcal/2247 kJ 0.5g of carbohydrate
0.5g of protein
TOTAL FAT: 60g
I am reviewing the Anchor Lighter Spreadable which is why the facts may be lower than a normal spread but I don't consider the taste to be much different.
So buying, well I buy my Anchor Spreadable at my local supermarket but it can be bought at all. The price for a 500g tub is £1.79 but this will last a long time even for me who practically has toast every day, it takes well over a month or more than to finish it.

Oooh, I do like a bit of butter, but it is just so naughty. I treat myself to real butter every now and again, but for the rest of the time I try to eat low fat margarine. Sigh.
