Advantages: Sounds healthy

Disadvantages: Salty taste on toast

I'm not a big bread eater but if I do make a sandwich I do find I need to spread something on the bread otherwis I find it too dry, that is unless the sandwich mi contains something that makes it moist such as mayonnaise.

My spread of choice is Tesco Enriched Olive Spread which can be found on the shelves alongside the other margarines and butters.

This is a reduced fat spread made with a blend of vegetable oils and olive oil and is a good source of vitamen B6 and Folic Acid. It has a pale yellow colour and is soft so it spreads really easy straight from the fridge. It is high in mono - unsaturates and low in saturates and has a melow buttery smell. It does not have a strong distinctive taste however when spread on hot toast there is a certain salty flavour to it although as a product it contains about 2% salt.

In terms of nutritional information, as well as the salt in a 10g serving there are 55 calories and 5.9 grams of fat. The product is suitable for vegetarians and although the factory is nut free as is the recipe there is no guarantee that it is nut free.

Summary: Olive oil based spread.

My favourite is mayonaise ... I have that spread on every sandwich and baguette! I even chucked some in my Smoked Salmon one today!
