In my drive to reduce my food shopping bill in the light of the constantly rising food prices, I have recently discovered an own-brand spread that I am very impressed with. It is called The Co-operative Buttery and is as good as any similar spread that I have used but, of course, cheaper. My local Co-op sells it for £1.19 for a 500gm tub, at least ... I was shopping in Superdrug last week and spied Princes Salmon Paste for 39p for a 75g jar. I didn't realise they still made this so was really pleased so popped a couple of jars in my basket thinking they'd come in useful sometime..... Benecol Light Cheese spread is a favourite of mine it is good for keeping your Cholesterol level low and to be quite honest it is very tasty unlike other healthy cheese spreads that I have bought. It has a rich texture and tastes slightly salty but with a slightly sharp tang, one mouthful and your taste buds start to react, I get the ... Read the complete review

I'm not a big bread eater but if I do make a sandwich I do find I need to spread something on the bread otherwis I find it too dry, that is unless the sandwich mi contains something that makes it moist such as mayonnaise. ~~My feelings~~ The first time I really saw Pro-activ was when I was visiting the house of a friend (who is a nurse) with several other ladies. We had been having a very nice get-together and she brought out some munchies (along with a very nice cuppa, I must add.) She brought out several kinds of crackers, some cheese, some biscuits ... I love my food but one thing I also love is to have something served either on or with my food. I am more a savoury over sweet person which obviously means things like crisps, bread and toast but toast would not be complete without butter. I have tried lots of butter brands Flora, St Ivel etc but none beat Anchor in my opinion and for years now I ... Read the complete review

Lurpak is a Scandanavian company that produces a number of lines in butter. More precisely, they are a Danish producer that first introduced Lurpak butter in the 1950's at the onset of supermarkets and corner shops that could sell pre-packed butter. They are very popular in the UK and more surprisingly in the Middle East. I ... Read the complete review

Pure Dairy free spread with Soya. Baby Adrian (my grandson) has developed a dairy intolerance. He is breast-fed and when his mother my daughter, sleepy dormouse ate cheese or spreads and milk that are of dairy origin she discovered Adrian developed a sore red bottom and developed colic. My first time was on one of my Maltese holidays about 10 years ago. My friend Christine and I stayed in St Georges Apartments in St Julians Bay, where the nightlife was about the busiest on the island. We always managed to extend our nights out until at least 6.00 am, even if that meant we were playing cards or dares in the streets with the ... Read the complete review

There are numerous chocolate spreads on the market, many of which are based on, inspired by or at least use the brand name of a well known chocolate bar – Galaxy, Milky-Way, Cadburys (Dairy Milk) and so on. However few are as good as Nutella, the original chocolate hazelnut spread, and so don’t get a look in from me. This changed when I came ... Read the complete review

Well, I return with an opinion about margarine, yes you heard me correctly, I said margarine. Well, a soft spread to be exact (can’t be accused of being ‘Not politically correct’ now can I?) Nutella. Hazelnut chocolate spread. We've all heard of this product, and probably all tasted it too. So why write an opinion on it? Because it's scrummy, that's why! * History Nutella was created in the 1940's by Pietro Ferrero, a pastry maker and founder of the Ferrero Company. War rationing at the time ... I'm moving next week. We're living in limbo, half-packed. We're going to live in a small village. For privacy's sake, let's call it The Back Of Beyond.
