Advantages: Something a little different to other sweets, nice packaging
Disadvantages: Strange, tangy aftertaste, taste artificial
Wanting something sweet to satisfy my craving, I bought these 'Starbust Choozers' from Tesco since they looked intriguing and I hadn't tried them before.
The packaging is red with 'Starburst' and 'Choozers' written across the front in large letters, along with a picture of one of the sweets cut in half with some juice oozing out the middle of it. The wrapper has bursts of yellow in it, and I have to say that it is quite eye catching! The catch phrase written on the back of the packet is 'The Chews That Ooze', giving us some indication of what is in store whilst eating the sweets.
There are three different flavours of sweet in the pack; Orange and Mango, Raspberry and Orange, and Pineapple and Orange (good if you like orange flavoured sweets!) The sweets taste quite like the original starburst sweets - plasticy, chewy and sweet, but in the middle of them is some thick juice which 'oozes' out when you bite into them. The sweets are about 2cm long and are cylindrical in shape.
The sweets were ok, but I did think they tasted very artificial. The Orange and Mango sweets were quite tangy and you can definitely taste the orange in them, but not much mango! The Pineapple and Orange ones were also tangy and this time I could taste the pineapple flavour but not the orange flavour, and these ones left the worst taste in my mouth. The Raspberry and Orange sweets were my favourite with a nice mixture of both of the fruit flavours evenly distributed within sweet, they were not very tangy which was a nice change to the other two. The Orange and Mango and Pineapple and Orange flavours left a strange, tangy, sharp, artificial aftertaste in my mouth which seemed to last for ages, which I didn't really like!
The weight of the packet I bought was 42g and inside it is 10 individually wrapped sweets. 6 of them were orange and mango flavour so I don't think they were particularly evenly distributed! The wrappers are slightly see-through so you can tell which flavour you are getting.
The sweets are made with real fruit juice, but this doesn't mean that they are any good for you! They are still full of E numbers and sugar, with 395 calories per 100g.
The sweets are relatively new but are available from most supermarkets and cost around the 40p mark. It is also possible to buy them in a 160g packet for around £1.40.
These sweets were ok, though I won't make a habit of buying them. They tasted too artificial and sweet for my liking, and had a tangy aftertaste which seemed to stay in my mouth for quite a long time! I don't recommend them.
Summary: Not to my taste
