In my opinion Starburst are the ultimate in fruit sweets, they are packed with flavour like no other fruit based sweet and they are so juicy in your mouth. In the past starburst used to be called opal fruits although they changed there name to starburst so that the product would be known across the globe as one name. With this change they ...

Starburst, the delicious chewy sweet. Many of us know them as Opal Fruits but they changed to being Starburst in 1998. I've been eating these since I was little as they're a great sweet for kids, I did get kind of confused when they changed the name but I soon caught on and started buying them again. I think that most people who really like these ...

Starburst arrived as supposedly just a new name for Opal fruits but do we really believe these are the same chewy sweets that we all used to love? Well I for one do not. My reasons for saying this are that for one they do not have the same consistency as the Opal fruit had, the Opal fruit used to be a smooth chew where as the Starburst can be a ...

Starburst are one of those chewy sweets that really do make your mouth water when you eat them which means that you just have to chew and a packet does not last a long time. In all there are five fruit flavour sweets in every pack, usually in a single tube you will get at least two of each flavour. Each sweet is square shaped and ...

Starburst/ Opal Fruits whatever you want to call them, they are lovely little sweeties! I still call them opal fruits cos thats what they were called when I was wee :) Hard to believe that they were introduced in 1960...before my mum was even born! The original flavours are lemon, orange, lime, strawberry and blackcurrant. ...

Why are Starbursts individually wrapped? Could the environment be saved a little bit if they stopped wasting the materials wrapping every one of them? It's a bit of a pain unwrapping every single candy in the package too. I know they are chewy... I imagine the point must be to stop them from sticking together? But that seems a bit silly. I doubt the integrity of the candy would be jeopardized by intersweet contact (i just made that word up).
In short... why all the wrappers?
Regardless of the wrapper issue, STARBURST CANDIES ARE AMAZING! Starbursts and skittles are just about the only candies this world needs.

Formally Opal Fruits, hence the title. OK most of you are probably far far too young to remember the advertisement for Opal Fruits but it was a nice little ditty that kinda caught on for a while. Opal fruits made to make your moth water was the punchline of the advert. And indeed they are. Starburst as they are now known ( although I do ...
