First up, these are not normal Starbursts, but a pack specifically based around the strawberry flavours, so be aware of that! Those of us who are twenty or above may always remember these little beauties as Opal Fruits, but despite the name change, they're still the same in every other way, and they're delicious. THE HISTORY: Would you believe that Starburst have been around since 1960!, and are part of the all encompassing 'Mars' family of sweets. As most of you know I am partial to the odd bar of chocolate but Andrew loves sweets. He came home with a bag of these a little while back and I just couldn't stop myself from reaching into the bag and trying one or two or maybe more! You can buy them from most supermarkets and they usually cost around £1.50 for a family sized bag and they are based on the normal Starbursts in that they are exactly the same shape and size they all include the strawberry flavour in each sweet. I fancied something sweet the other day and decided against chocolate, instead buying a pack of Starburst thinking this way I could spread my treat out through the day and still stick to my healthy eating plan rather than scoffing a chocolate bar within five minutes and then spending the rest of the day battling my desire for another one! When I got home I was a little disappointed to discover I'd picked the wrong packet up (since when have you had a choice with Starburst?) and this was actually a pack of Starburst Strawberry Mix, which I eventually realised meant every sweet was based around the yummy red Starburst from the original packets.
