Advantages: Great taste
Disadvantages: None
I still remember when these sweets were first advertised on TV. It was on old man sitting in his rocking chair, giving his young grandson his first sweet. It's an iconic image which has always remained with me down the years.
Well apparently Werther's Originals are named after the small village where these were first made. These are made in Germany so I assume the little village is somewhere in Germany, Werther does sound like a German name, although am not 100% sure about this one!
If you have never had these sweets before they are basically butter candies. Would say they are smooth creamy sweets. They are very hard and when you bite into them they are quite brittle and break and splinter in your mouth. The flavour is very nice, a very buttery taste that lasts long after you have finished the sweet. If you suck these they do tend to last quite a long time. These are made with real butter and fresh cream so it's understandable why you get that rich taste.
The bag of these that I currently have is 150 grams, I think you can get bigger bags or you can get smaller packets of the sweets. For every 100 grams of these there are 424 calories, 8.9 grams of fat, so these are quite fattening but that's what you would expect from sweets really.
A pack of three rolls of these will cost you 97p at Tesco.
Overall these are a really nice sweet. My Gran loves these sweets and swears by them. She often sits there looking out of her window watching the world go by while she sucks on these. And they are a good all round sweet that am sure most people will enjoy if they give them a try.
Summary: Great all round sweets
