Advantages: At last something for lactose intolerant people
Disadvantages: Can be expensive
As some of you may know from my previous posts I have a friend who is allergic to milk, she's lactose intolerant.
What is lactose intolerance? Lactose Intolerance is basically when a person cannot digest the sugars in lactose. This is because their bodies don't create any lactase which breaks down the lactose. It is actually a very common problem and more people suffer from it than you probably realise it is thought that up to 15% of the U.K suffers. The symptoms can range from just getting a stomach ache or eczema after eating lactose right up to vomiting and getting diarrhoea.
Because of this there are loads of lovely foods that she can't unfortunatley eat. For example yoghurt, chocolate and icecream. So we went shopping together once to try and find some that she could eat. The only icecream we could find was this Swedish Glace brand.
It comes in a variety of flavours, the best of which are chcolate strawberry andf vanilla so when we came across this tub it was perfect. I tried it with her because we'd run out of other icecream and it was actually really nice. It tastes very nice and fruity (strawberry) and the other flavours are really nice too. The texture is really smooth and it has a perfect way of melting in your mouth.
My friend loves this stuff and I think it's great that a company has at last started to make dairy free icecream. i also eat it a lot now because its really tasty and is now one of my favourites. i really recommend you try it.
It can be quite expensive at anywhere from £2 - £3 for a tub but it's definately worth it!
Summary: Try it, it s soooooooo good!
