Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: get left with one bit
WHAT IS IT:
This delightful sweet product contains three separate pouches of fine grain, flavoured sherbert, and a 'stick' made out of the same candy as love hearts, with which to suck and dip into the sherbert.
Costing just 16p at Tesco, this is a very well priced product, but online you pay up to three times as much on the retro-sweets sites, so don't fall for that..
The flavours are orange, raspberry and lemon. Each has the consistency of finely ground sugar - it's granual sherbet rather than the dusty stuff. Each has a strong, tangy flavour, bordering on sour. The stick is supposed to be candyfloss flavour, but I just think it's sweet.
The ingredients are:Sugar, Dextrose, Acidity Regulators (citric Acid, Tartaric Acid), Sodium Bicarbonate, Cornflour, E470b, Anti-caking Agent (Magnesium Carbonate), Modified Starch, Stearic Acid, Flavourings, Colours (E104, E110, E124).
Unsurprisingly, this product is made up of lots of sugar, so needs to be eaten in moderation.
My only word of warning is that this is not the same as it used to be, so if you remember the product from your childhood, don't think this is the same. The flavours are different, and you now get 3 sachets rather than two: it's pretty much a totally different sweet.
The most annoying thing is about the way you eat it. You have to try and ration out the amount of stick and sherbet you use, to make each last for each-other, and you often end up with left-over stick or left-over sherbet which you have to pour into your mouth!
In conclusion, a nice sweet that is well priced but you need to eat it in a measured fashion to avoid being left with just one part.
Summary: eat it!
