I love the fact that old things like Swizzels parma violet sweets for instance, are no longer called old but instead they are retro, does that make me retro now then rather than old? Anyway, after reading a few reviews lately on these lovely sweets i thought it was time to set the record straight. It is claimed by many that parma violets along with cherry lips and even floral gums, have a perfume taste, if anyone has ever accidentally tasted perfume by perhaps spraying too much or even by kissing the neck of someone wearing too much then you will know that perfume nips the tongue and has a battery acid like effect, parma violets do ... I've been eating so many sweets since I won a big box of retro sweets at a Christmas Fayre on Saturday! I think I'm about to turn into an Oompa Lumpa! lol These Parma Violets are yummy and I can't get enough of them, it's weird because I hated them when I was a kid but now I think I'm becoming addicted. They are small tablet type sweets that come in a plastic wrapper exactly as you can see in the photo above, the packaging hasn't changed in years and neither have the sweets inside. They do taste quite flowery, I don't know if that is the taste of violets but they are deffo tasting like flowers and nothing else. The sweets are quite ... Read the complete review

I absolutely lurrrrve sweeties and what with Halloween just been and gone there are a lot of sweets still on offer and reduced etc so it wasn't too surprising when I came home the other day and found a big yellow bag of Swizzels Matlows assorted sweets. Swizzels Matlows for anybody who doesn't know are the people who make the fruit flavoured lollies on the cardboard sticks, lemon sherbets, fizzers (fizzy multicoloured version of Parma violets) and of course, Parma violets. Think sweets from the 80's. Parma violets are odd little sweets and I think I would find them quite hard to describe to somebody from another country. They are little round ... Ahhhhhhhh the Swizzels Parma Violets, you either love them or hate them! I happen to be one of the lovers of these classic retro sweets! I just can't get enough of them. I get them from my local Spar for just 5p per packet but the wonderful makers have decided to bring a bigger pack into the world which costs 20p. If you don't know what these wonderful sweets are then I will explain. They are tiny lilac discs that are no bigger than your baby fingernail. They have the same chalk-like texture as the classic 'Love Heart' but the taste something totally different altogether which I will endeavor to explain. Imagine that you are at the perfumery in ... *My Personal Product Suggestion* ~ Personal Experience ~ Parma Violets, where do I start? You normally get these as part of a large pack of sweets with swizzle sticks and lollies and little sticky balls amongst many other bits and bobs. Shaped like a tablet or pill, they can be deceiving but still give a great smell and taste which will make you grasping for more and more. These were the only unique pack in the toffee back as they were the only type to be packaged with only one flavour. Other flavours couldn't carry it off like Parma Violets mainly because of the taste, but they would normally mix lots of flavours together for these types ... Read the complete review
