Advantages: Great smell and taste and cheap too.

Disadvantages: Not suitable for young children as they are in tablet form.

*My Personal Product Suggestion*

~ Personal Experience ~

Parma Violets, where do I start? You normally get these as part of a large pack of sweets with swizzle sticks and lollies and little sticky balls amongst many other bits and bobs. Shaped like a tablet or pill, they can be deceiving but still give a great smell and taste which will make you grasping for more and more.

These were the only unique pack in the toffee back as they were the only type to be packaged with only one flavour. Other flavours couldn't carry it off like Parma Violets mainly because of the taste, but they would normally mix lots of flavours together for these types of sweets.

I used to love eating these mainly at Christmas time sat by the fire and watching a decent movie, you can't beat it.

~ Did you know...~

Did you know that Parma Violets are an actual plant which has lavender flowers which vary in size. These plants give off a strong perfume smell and hence that's why these sweets are called "Parma Violets".

~ Taste Test ~

They taste how they look and feel! You feel as if you are eating medicine or taking something to relief a headache but your just relieving your hunger or at least for half an hour as they aren't that filling.

They taste rather like a Calpol, maybe that's just me but I find they taste like a dried powdered version of the children's medicines.

~ Smell Test ~

Alert: Strong smelling! Yes they do smell quite strong, not sure why really. It could be that they are made with a huge amount of sherbet which gives them their unique aroma. I personally love the smell of the packaging after opening a tube of these, they just smell very appealing, a must try for any sweet lover.

~ Price & Shop ~

You can buy them from the website aquarterof (see link below) for around £2 per quarter of a kilogram which isn't that bad considering how much you get. I really would recommend this little website as it has allsorts of retro sweeties which will feed your need to go an look for all the sweets you remember when you were a child.

~ In my opinion... ~

I think that these are loved by many sweetie admirers all over the UK. This type of candy is always going to be a hit as they have a unique colour, unique smell and disc shaped. Now you can actually buy massive Parma violets which just about fit into your mouth, I can see a lot of fillings coming my way if they do!

With a great flavour, nice smell to them and lots of them to fit in your mouth all at once, this candy is a true classic and recommended by me.

I found your review really interesting as I personally can't stand parma violets - I was a fussy child and this aversion is one I've never been able to shake off!

You're description of the strong smell and medicinal taste are the very reasons I'm put off - so it is really interesting to realise that this is what they're supposed to be like, and that other people enjoy them *because* of it! :)
