On a recent holiday to the beautiful country of Wales my best friend and I visited the northern town of Conway. Boasting the most glorious Castle I've ever seen perched high overlooking the most picturesque little harbour, it was only right and proper we purchase a couple of the country's delicacies while we were there. Perusing the Castle's well-stocked Gift Shop I happened upon a traditional Bara Brith fruit loaf plus a pack of these 'Tan Y Castell Welshcakes', the latter being a reasonable £1.25 for a pack of six. When I was in the sixth form at school we had a great common room in a specially built sixth form house, and we all brought our own lunches. This seems forever ago now, but I remember one special person who became a life long friend, and she always had home made goodies in her sandwich box. My absolute favourite thing she brought to school was Welsh cakes, and at first I had no idea what they were.
