Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: the white one's
One of my presents this Christmas was an odd shape, which quite intrigued me and was one of the first things I opened on Christmas day. It contains a tall 672g tub of ?Terry?s Chocolate Orange Segsations? people that know me well know they can?t go far wrong if they buy me chocolate of some kind. I have on a number of occasions eaten ?Terry?s chocolate Orange? and thoroughly enjoyed it but I had never tried these so I was delighted. The tub is made of plastic, is blue and orange and has pictures of all the chocolates on the front, while the lid is shaped and coloured like an orange segment. The back of the tub had the usual ingredients list etc, as well as a full list of what to expect from each of the chocolates. Inside the chocolates, which were all shaped like orange segments with the word Terry pressed into the top and each was just the right size for a mouthful. The orange smell was quite full and strong, very zesty and each piece was individually wrapped in different coloured wrappers, there was a mix of five different flavours and textures in all. The dark blue wrapper contained a milk chocolate orange original flavoured segment, which was exactly without doubt the same in taste as the well-known chocolate orange, this was creamy and smooth and the orange taste was quite zesty, full and delicious. The pale orange wrapper contained one very similar to the milk chocolate one above but with the addition of little crunchy pieces of honeycomb, the texture worked well with the orange flavour and did it give a slightly sweeter almost toffee like flavour added to the original flavour. I did in all honesty find this one just a tad too sweet for my liking. The pale blue wrapper uncovered, again the same chocolate experience but this time with the addition of little bits off crispy puffed rice, this was okay but only seemed to add
texture, it didn?t seem to give much to the taste of the piece. It reminded me of those little chocolate rice crispy cakes I used to make with my mum when I was a little girl, only with the addiction of an orange zesty flavour. The white wrapper unveiled a creamy white segment, which was in fact slightly greasy and sickly tasting; the orange flavour wasn?t quite so strong with this one either. It didn?t seem to have that true cocoa butter flavour you get with most white chocolate, out of all of them this one was really the only one that I found to be a bit of a let down so Terry can have this one his self. The red wrapper was the one that got to me best, it revealed a segment that on the top was the well known milk chocolate orange segment with the added bonus of a thin layer of crisp dark chocolate on the bottom, this seemed to give it a more chocolate flavour with out being quite so sickly yet it didn?t seem to take away any of the orange zesty flavour. This one was my favourite it was simply delicious and the orange flavour was plentiful but not over powering. All in all though the chocolates with the exception of the white ones was, well totally delicious, in fact the only down side to these are the 528 calories per 100gs but it doesn?t sound so bad if you say it very quickly, and the price of £3.99 for 672g was in my view quite acceptable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, especially anyone wanting to buy some for me. And as for Terry he can keep all the white ones if he wants to but the rest are mine and no I?m not going to share. Thanks for reading. Kim.

CC86 - 23/04/04 Good review! I personally like the white chocolate ones, but only a little at a time as I agree that they're very sickly. |
